PROCESS A Request for Qualifications was issued May 1–June 1, 2020 for visual artists residing in the . The Arts Commission received 95 submissions total to which Arts Commission Staff included 9 artists portfolios from the 2019/2020 Prequalified Artist Pool. Arts Commission staff presented the qualifications of 104 artists for the San Francisco International Airport: Harvey Milk Terminal 1 Public Art Project. “Yes/No” majority votes based on the criteria of Artistic Excellence and Appropriate to Project Goals yielded 21 artists to move to the shortlist for the public art opportunity.

Round One: Arts Commission staff presented the qualifications of 21 artists for the San Francisco International Airport: Harvey Milk Terminal 1 Public Art Project. A Yes/No” majority votes based on the criteria of Artistic Excellence, Ability to create an artwork celebrating the legacy of Harvey Milk, and Assessed ability to respond to the project site yielded 9 artists to move to Round Two.

Round Two: The Artist Selection Panel discussed the qualifications of the 9 semi-finalists and scored each artist on the following criteria (1= low score):

• Artistic Excellence (1–5) • Ability to Create an Artwork Celebrating the Legacy of Harvey Milk (1–5) • Proposed Concept Appropriate to Project Goals (1–5)

Round Two voting yielded 5 finalists to recommend to the Arts Commission.

RESULTS The following artists were selected as finalists for the San Francisco International Airport: Harvey Milk Terminal 1 Public Art Project:
