Athletic Trainer Dave Cilladi—2013 Hemond Award Recipient Phoenix, Arizona — Athletic trainer Dave Cilladi, the ’s medical care coordinator the past 12 years, is the recipient of the 2013 Roland Hemond Award. The award is presented annually to recognize baseball executives who have provided outstanding ser- vice to professional baseball and served the Arizona Fall League in a key leadership capacity. Cilladi will receive the award during pre-game ceremonies at tonight’s na- tionally-televised (MLB Network, MLB.com) 7 p.m. MST game between the and at . Cilladi — In his capacity as the Fall League’s medical overseer, the former major league athletic trainer establishes policies and procedures and serves as a liaison between the league’s team athletic trainers and the local medical community. The Brockport, PA native graduated from Penn State University in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in health education. The next summer, he began his professional athletic training career as the head athletic trainer for the , the Cubs’ affiliate in the Class-A . One year later, he found him- self at as the parent Cubs first full-time assistant athletic trainer. He served in that capacity through the 1992 season when he was named the first full-time head athletic trainer. Since leaving the Rockies following the 1998 season, Cilladi has been associated with Physiotherapy Asso- ciates, working primarily with baseball players. Cilladi and his wife, Jamie, reside in Mesa. They have two sons — Stephen, a in the Los An- geles Dodgers’ organization and a certified athletic trainer, and Joseph. Hemond — Hemond, a veteran baseball executive, is a three-time winner of MLB’s Executive-of-the-Year Award and the 2011 recipient of the second Buck O’Neil Lifetime Achievement Award. The Arizona Fall League Hemond Award is one of four awards in his name. The others are the White Sox Roland Hemond Award, the Award and the Society for American Baseball Re- search (SABR) Award.
