    Modified July 27, 2005 ASSOCIATION OF BOXING COMMISSIONS REGULATORY GUIDELINES AND RULES FOR ALL WORLD AND REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP BOUTS The following regulatory guidelines and rules govern all championship professional boxing competitions held within the United States of America , Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, District of Columbia , and any Indian reservation. In the event of a dispute regarding the guidelines, rules, or any other issue that is not clearly covered under the ABC rules, the supervising Commission of the bout will be the final authority. General Rules Licensees/Officials – Control All licensees and officials involved in the actual conduct of an event shall be under the direct control of the supervising commission assigned to regulate the event. No official shall in any manner display partiality for one contestant over the other. The Uniform Championship Rules shall be utilized in conjunction with these guidelines. Physical Examinations All boxers competing shall receive a pre-fight physical examination by a ringside physician who certifies in writing whether or not the boxer is physically fit to safely compete. A true and correct copy of the event physician’s certification shall be provided to the supervising Commission. If the event physician’s certification fails to certify that the boxer is physically fit to safely compete, the boxer shall not participate in any contest, and immediately be placed on the National suspension list. Unless the supervising Commission determines otherwise, all post-fight physicals shall be conducted by the ringside physician after the final bout of the event. Boxers shall also be required to meet all supervising Commission licensing and medical requirements.

Scope. 5 6 These regulations contain procedures and requirements for the licensure of individuals and 7 firms to engage in the conduct of professional boxing and wrestling events as provided for in 8 Chapter 8.1 (§ 54.1-828 et seq.) of Title 54.1 of the Code of Virginia. 9 10 Amateur boxing and wrestling contests, where the participants receive no money,; 11 compensation, including a promise of participation in a future [non-amateur] event; or reward 12 other than a suitably inscribed memento are exempt from the provisions of Chapter 8.1 of Title 13 54.1 of the Code of Virginia and from the provisions of these regulations. 14 15 The director of the department is empowered to (i) promulgate these regulations, (ii) issue 16 licenses, (iii) investigate to determine compliance with these regulations, and (iv) take 17 disciplinary action, in accordance with the Virginia Administrative Process Act, against those 18 who fail to comply with these regulations. RELATES TO: KRS 229.025, 229.031, 229.055, 229.111, 229.131, 229.155, 229.171, 15 U.S.C. 6304, 6305(a), (b) STATUTORY AUTHORITY: KRS 229.025, 229.171, 15 U.S.C. 6304, 6305 NECESSITY, FUNCTION, AND CONFORMITY: KRS 229.171(1) authorizes the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Commission to exercise sole direction, management, control, and juris- diction over all unarmed combat shows in the commonwealth. KRS 229.171(2) authorizes the commission to promulgate administrative regulations it considers necessary or expedient for the performance of its functions provided in KRS Chapter 229. KRS 229.025 requires every li- censee to be subject to administrative regulations promulgated by the commission. 15 U.S.C. 6304 requires protection of the health and safety of boxers, and includes requirements for a physical examination, a physician to be present at ringside, an ambulance or resuscitation equipment, and health insurance coverage. 15 U.S.C. 6305 requires the commission to issue an identification card to each professional boxer who registers with the commission. This ad- ministrative regulation establishes the requirements for boxing and kickboxing shows, and for participants in boxing and kickboxing shows. Section 1. Show Date. (1) A promoter shall request a show date by completing and submitting to the commission the Show Notice Form. (2) The Show Notice Form shall be submitted to the commission for approval no less than thirty (30) calendar days before the requested show date. (3) A promoter shall not advertise a show until the date has been approved by the commis- sion.

    Kickboxing Official grading syllabus Traditional Japanese, Chinese & Okinawan Martial arts Price £2.50 Kickboxing – A Brief history Tatsuo Yamada, who established "Nihon Kempo Karate-do", was interested in Muay Thai because he wanted to perform Karate matches with full-contact rules since practitioners are not allowed to hit each other directly in karate matches. Yamada had already announced his plan which was named "The draft principles of project of establishment of a new sport and its industrialization" in November 1959 and he proposed the tentative name of "Karate-boxing" for this new sport. Yamada started studying with a Muay Thai champion, formerly his son Kan Yamada's sparring partner. Osamu Noguchi who was a promoter of boxing and was also interested in Muay Thai took the Thai fighter and developed a combined martial art of karate and Thai boxing and creating the term kickboxing in the 1950s. In 1963 three karate fighters from Oyama dojo (Kyokushinkai Karate) went to the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand, and fought against 3 Muay Thai fighters winning two of the three bouts. The three fighters' names were Tadashi Nakamura, Kenji Kurosaki and Akio Fujihira (also known as Noboru Osawa). The original kickboxing allowed throwing and butting in the beginning to distinguish it from the Muay Thai style, although this was later dropped. The Kickboxing Association, the first kickboxing sanctioning body, was founded by Osamu Noguchi in 1966 soon after that. Then the first kickboxing event was held in Osaka on the 11th April 1966. Tatsu Yamada died in 1967; his dojo changed its name to Suginami Gym, and kept sending fighters off to support kickboxing.
