READING ON YOUR PC Under the Currently Reading section of My Books, click on the book cover to open it. The first time you open a book, Cloud Library needs to activate an Adobe ID. If you do not have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer, you will be given the option of using a system-provided Adobe ID or using your own. (Please note that this is NOT necessary, you do not need to install ADE unless you need it for another purpose). Make your choice and click "OK" to proceed. IMPORTANT: If you have already used your computer to download and transfer eBooks to a Nook, you already have an Adobe Digital Editions ID. When you first download the 3M Cloud Library, it will recognize this, and prompt you that Adobe Digital Editions is already installed on your computer. Please select your current Adobe ID, rather than the 3M Cloud Library ID, so you can continue to download non-3M eBooks from your personal computer to your Nook. Again, selecting the 3M Cloud Library ID will override any Adobe ID already on your computer and make any books already on your Nook inaccessible. If you already have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer authorized with your personal Adobe ID, the 3M Cloud Library app will use your personal Adobe ID to continue. You will get this screen: (Click OK). This will minimize issues with other eBook services you may be using for downloading eBooks to transfer to an eReader. The book will open in a 5th tab, to the right of "My Books": Use the arrows on the right and left of the book's pages to move through the books. Click the upper right corner of the book for more options: CHANGE FONT SIZE Click the icon for book details. Click the large and small "A" icon to change text size. Click the magnifying glass icon to search inside the book by keyword. Click the square box to add bookmarks or notes. TRANSFERRING FROM YOUR PC TO YOUR EREADER You can transfer your books from your PC to a Nook or Kobo eBook reader. Turn on your eBook reader and connect it to your computer. In the 3M Cloud Library app, go to the "My Books" tab. Once the app has recognized your device, you should see a "connected to device" message and green "download to device" buttons for each book you have downloaded to your computer. Click the green "download to device" button to transfer the book to your eBook reader. When you are done transferring eBooks to your reader, eject the device. The book should now be available on your reader. (Some readers will file the title in a folder called "Digital Editions".) Sharing Computers If you share a computer login with another person on your home computer and both want to use the 3M Cloud Library, you must log out of the 3M Cloud Library app each time so someone else can use it. To log out of the 3M app. 1. Go to the “My Books” screen. 2. Click on "Account Profile" 3. Select "modify library information” 4. This will log you out and close the app. When you reopen the app it will ask for a log in. What are loan periods and limits? eBooks checkout for 14 days, but you can return your books early. We encourage you to return your book when you are finished so that it becomes available to other users. If you would like to return a book early, go to "My Books" and click "List View". Click the red "Check In" button in the row for the book you would like to return. After 14 days, the book will automatically be returned to the collection. Please note that checking the book in on your account from your computer does not remove any book you have already transferred to an eReader (such as a Nook). At the end of the loan period, books on your e-reader will become inaccessible and will need to be deleted manually. The Checkout limit is four, meaning you can have up to four books checked out at one time. The Holds limit is five. You can have up to five books on hold at a time. This limit allows for books to be available to as many people as possible. Holds are held for 3 days. You have 72 hours to check out a book once it becomes available to you. How am I notified when a book I requested becomes available? The first time you put a book on hold, you will be asked if you would like to receive email notifications. If you select “No, don’t notify me”, the opt out setting will be stored in your account profile.
