Important Issues – WITH PAGE NUMBERS / REFERENCES 1. Village Facilities p7 2. Highways p8 3. Environment p10 2 Parish Plan Summary Main recommendations – WITH PAGE NUMBERS / REFERENCES 1. Village Facilities p7 Villagers would strongly like there to be a shop / post office again. Three potential sites are being reviewed. Village Hall needs to be improved and be made accessible for wheelchair users; there are also plans to extend the Hall. Grants have been applied for (p7) Improved recreation facilities: table tennis sessions to continue and an exercise class is also hoped to be run. A tennis court has been requested to be made available. 2. Highways p8 New housing estates will Increase traffic as local roads will be used to access Milton Keynes. Speeding restriction have been requested by villagers. Parking at the school and Rugby club is problematic. Congestion by the school has improved since the introduction of an alternative travel plan. 3. Transport p9 Requests for a bus shelter, bus-stops to display bus timetable and extended bus service on Saturdays. A footpaths group have been walking parish paths to acquaint people with the network of routes. 4. Environment p10 Strong emphasis to maintain the separate identity of Maids Moreton. Scotts lane should be protected from development and maintained, to safeguard wildlife and meadows. Clearance of undergrowth and planting of flowers in the lane has been applied for. Many pavements don’t have drop kerbs making this difficult for wheelchair and buggy users. Residents are asked to use the dog bins provided. Littering is a concern. Provide provisions for glass recycling. 5. Housing p12 Additional developments should complement the existing architectural character and green spaces conserved. Affordable housing may be insufficient in the village – shared ownership or rental properties for local people has been suggested. 3 Parish Plan Summary CHECKLIST OF SERVICES HIGHLIGHTED IN DOCUMENT Place X where the service features as an issue in the appraisal.
