WHS American Pie: Public ticket sales info: This year WHS American Pie VII considers life through the lens of teenagers - a decade by decade look at the teen experience and teenagers' contributions to American popular culture with WHS American Pie VII Teenage Wasteland on Thursday April 25 and Friday April 26 at 7 pm in the WHS Auditorium.

2 nights, 2 totally different shows!

We are offering the opportunity to purchase tickets (max of 2 per show) on Wed 3/27 7-8pm or while supplies last at the WHS main entrance (near the WHS Learning Center) WHS entrance #6. $10 each

Graduating from high school in 2019 and planning to live at home? BAC is the perfect job for you! BAC will work around your college schedule and allows you to work summers too! Prom 2019 Information:

● Current WHS Juniors and Seniors in good standing and their guests are permitted to attend. ● Students are not required to have a date. They may attend alone or in groups (but must have a date as described below if not a current WHS Junior or Senior themselves). ● All students will undergo a breathalyzer test when arriving to Prom and can be tested at any point during the event as deemed necessary. ● Additionally, if students exhibit signs of being under the influence of any type of drug, they will immediately be escorted to the police officer on duty for a thorough investigation. ● All students (WHS & guests) must have a photo ID that will be checked upon arrival. ● WHS Freshmen and Sophomores may attend as the date of a WHS Junior or Senior. ● Non-WHS students may attend as the date of a WHS upperclassmen. ● Non-WHS guests must be approved by administration by submitting a guest form.

○ Guest forms require information from the WHS student and guest and will require multiple days to complete and return to WHS. The forms are at the information desk. ● Guest forms must be turned in by the published due date or the guest will not be approved. ○ WHS student will receive confirmation of guest approval within one week of turning in a correctly-completed guest form.

● Ticket cost varies from year-to-year based upon Prom expenses. All prices and price increases will be published by the start of sales. ● Tickets are sold at school during the month leading up to Prom, but there will be a published cut-off date in order to finalize details with the venue. ● Tickets will be sold during lunches, but can also be purchased from the Junior Class Sponsors before/after school during the sales period. ● The price of tickets will INCREASE at two points during sales. The dates and prices will be publicized on announcements and are listed below. ● Students may NOT buy tickets from another student or resell their ticket to another student. All sales must go through Junior Class Officers and Junior Class Sponsors. ● All tickets are numbered. The number corresponds to the name provided when purchasing tickets and can’t be transferred without permission of the Junior Class Sponsors. ● Students do NOT need to bring their ticket to Prom. The names of all guests will be on the official, numbered list. Only guests on the list with proper photo ID will be admitted. ● There will be refreshments. This is not a nut/peanut-free event.

REMINDER: Medical Information must be submitted through the PARENT PORTAL of PowerSchool in order for your child to be treated in the health clinic. This includes administering Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen. We will not be calling parents for permission to give medications unless the student is significantly ill. This must be updated EVERY School Year. If you have having difficulty getting into your Parent Portal, please contact the Central Office for assistance

The Testing Center will NOT be open during 6th period on Thursday, March 28th due to no PlusTime or Shuttle Buses that day. That leaves ONLY ONE more Testing Center days before Spring Break! Plan accordingly!

Former Ceramics Students! Your deadline to claim ALL pottery and ceramic pieces is TODAY Wednesday before Spring Break (3/27). Anything left in the kiln room for will be up for grabs on Thursday (3/28), for both students and teachers. All remaining items will be thrown away. No exceptions. Don't delay and pick up your items soon! (Items in Display Cases are being saved for Rock the Arts on May 5th. Pick up for those items will be Monday May 6th!)

Immunization Notice for Juniors: The following Immunizations are REQUIRED for Seniors before starting school Fall 2019:

1. 2n d MCV4 (Meningitis) 2. Hepatitis A #1 & #2 ● Requires 2 doses given at least 6 months apart ● If you have not started the Hepatitis A series, the first Hep A should be started ASAP ○ Must have documentation of Hep A #1 + an appointment date for Hep A #2 BEFORE school starts in the Fall

( Immunization EXEMPTIONS - Religious or Medical - can be accepted AFTER Spring Break for the following school year.)

Students: When arriving on late start Wednesdays, you may enter the building at 8:05 am but you may NOT be in the hallways and/or classrooms until 8:15 am. You may wait in the Bistro, the Main Office Atrium, the Main Cafeteria or Door #13 Atrium. Breakfast will be served in the Main Cafeteria and the Bistro but the Learning Center and Famous Phils is closed during that time.

It's not too late to purchase a yearbook! Yearbooks are on sale for $60 at http://yearbookforever.com . Prices will go up, so get yours now. Additionally, seniors, don't forget to submit your senior quotes under the "Class of 2019" class on Canvas! The deadline is March 22.

WHS students and parents: Please be aware that students may not have food delivered from any outside restaurant delivery service during the school day. ANY exceptions MUST

have approval from an administrator. Students who forgot a lunch have the option of eating in one of our cafeterias. We have our main cafeteria that offers multiple food choices each day, our Famous Phil’s shop in the Learning Center that offers sandwiches, and our Box Office Bistro that has pizza every day. Lunch money can be deposited online at any time. If a parent drops off lunch from an outside restaurant it will be kept in the office area and the student it belongs to will be asked to eat that lunch in the office area. Students will not be called to the office to pick up lunch-if you anticipate bringing your child’s lunch to school, please let him or her know beforehand to check in at the office for his/her lunch.

Arab Culture Club Food Day! We will meet TODAY -Wednesday, March 27th during Rocks Connection in room 2206. Please join us to try different authentic foods from the Arab world and learn about the dishes you try. Hope to see you there!

ATHLETICS:

Boys Varsity Track finishes 1st place at WESTFIELD Track Invite. The boys track team was victorious in the Westfield Invite Tuesday evening at Riverview Health Stadium. Event winners included Cooper Boehm in the 110 hurdles, Francis Agbo in the 100, Mahamat Djour in the 1600, Justin Honberg in the 400, David Mannella in the 800, Noah Douthit in the 1600, and Colin Caldwell in the and Discus. The 4x100 relay of Agbo, Boehm, Mason Piening, Alex Kukura, and the 4x400 relay of Homberg, Kukura, Calvin Grenda, and Joe Harris also won.

Other point scorers were Carson Voorhis, Mario Chalmers, Tyler Smith, Joe Barnett, Max Gutwein, Jonathon Frey, Samuel Novak, Kyler Koning, Jacob Netral, Ross Krieg, David Frey, Matthew Rops, Lester Gonzalez, and David Garcia.

The Shamrocks are off until April 9, when they compete at Zionsville HS

Girls Varsity Track finishes 1st place at Westfield Track Invite. The Westfield Girls Track & Field squad won the annual Westfield Invite with a score of 109.5. The opposing teams were Eastern Hancock High School, finishing with 30 points and Franklin Central, finishing with 26.5 points. In the field events, senior captain Zoe Pentecost won first place in the shot put. She earned a second place finish in the . Junior Maddie Dowden had a breakout meet, earning a second place finish in the shot. In the , senior Camille Kern won a first place finish with a jump of 4’ 6”. She was followed in third and fourth place by her teammates Haley Boehm and Gabrielle Wiernik respectively. Sophomores Madeline Ferreri and Jaden Hammes both placed in the . Ferreri won second place with a leap of 15’ 6.5”, and Hammes earned a fourth place finish at 14’ 3”. In the , Lauren Ulsas and Taylor Jackson respectively earned 2nd and 3rd place honors.

In the track events, the Shamrocks won every relay event (the 4 x 800, 4 x 100, and 4 x 400). Every member of the 4 x 800 team ran for a new personal best time. Team members included Ashley Baldwin, Alyssa Schleper, Maya Francisco, and Margaret Barnett. Sophomore Haley Boehm had a career day in the 100 M Hurdles race, running for a new best time of 16.03. Jaden Hammes followed up closely behind in 2nd place. The same results for the same two athletes occurred in the 300 M Hurdles. In the 1600 M Run, Westfield swept the top three places with Julia Clark, ChristyAnn Delahunty, and Sophia Brown. Hannah Fife won the 400 M dash with a time of 62.66. She was followed by teammate Isabelle Manley, who ran a 68.75. Sophomore Ashley Baldwin won the 800 M Run with a time of 2:31.43. Margaret placed 3rd in the same race. In the 200 M Dash, Allison Bullock, Ava martin, and Jamilah Pelarios won 1st, 3rd, and 4th place respectively. Two Rocks placed first and second in the 3200 M Run -- Sophie Porter and Sarah Coates.

In all, 60% of all girls team members set a new personal best at the meet. The Ladies Team will be back in action after their spring break, when they travel to Zionsville on Tuesday, April 9th

SCHOOL COUNSELING CENTER:

Attention students! Interested in going to college abroad? There will be a representative from the University of Dundee in the UK on April, 18 in the am. Please see Mrs. Johnston in the Counseling Center if you're interested.

The following College Visits are during Plus Time on Tuesday/Thursday in the Learning Center and open to any student in grades 9-12. Students should register in PlusTime.

University of Dundee (Scotland)-Thursday April 18th. You have to sign up in Naviance. This visit is at 9:00 am.

Olivet Nazarene University (IL)-Tuesday April 9th. You have to sign up in Naviance.

We have a new security system this year called Safe Visitor. For the safety and security of our students and staff ALL visitors to the school will need to be prepared to show their driver’s license or photo identification as a visitor in our school.
