Louisiana’s men have dominated the throwing events in recent memory. In addition to Melancon, Jacob Domingue Albert Fournette III and Tyler Guidry each earned All-Conference distinction in the shot put last season. Garett Harkless also earned conference accolades in the weight throw in 2010.

“We are a young and growing team,” said Ogunbanjo. “There are a lot of returning conference champions as well as newcomers that will step up and make an immediate difference on our team. Although we are young there are several state and district champions on our roster that should make a surprise leap during our indoor and outdoor seasons”.

HOLLIS CONWAY “Mr. High Jump”

Hollis Conway’s performances in the high jump ranked him in the top four in the world for six straight years and two of those years (1991 & 1992) he was ranked as the number one high jumper in the world. Conway remained the number one high jumper in the United States for seven straight years.
