GM, IM and WGM will be provided free fooding at the venue or will be provided fooding allowance. TOURNAMENT RULES System of Play :The tournament will be conducted as per FIDE laws of chess. Time Control : 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment from move 1 for entire game. Tie Break : In case of a tie, the latest FIDE rules shall come in to effect. The cash prizes however will not be shared. Cheque : Top five ranking holders of main prizes will be given by cheque. Demand Draft : Online transfer & Demand Draft are also accepted. It is important to know the theoretical views of strong, active grandmasters. Predke enlightens us on two topical lines. Another strong, active GM is Anton Korobov. His exploits in the currently most fashionable line in the 6.♗g5 Najdorf, described in Ruslan Ponomariov’s Survey, are very worthwhile. If you want to avoid the Najdorf altogether, because of the vast amount of theory, the Survey of Ioannis Simeonidis offers a valid alternative. The system with an early fianchetto of White’s queen’s bishop, first used with success by Magnus Carlsen, is becoming increasingly popular, and a sequel may soon be in order. Generally speaking, White dictates the course of the opening. But it can be different, as I explain in my Survey of a relatively new line in the Nimzo-Indian, Noa Variation. It may become popular, since the results with it are very promising for Black. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov is doing extremely well these days. A well-balanced opening repertoire is part of his success. In the Catalan, against Kramnik, he picked up an old weapon of Gennady Kuzmin. The Survey is by José Vilela. Luke McShane highlights another variation favoured by Mamedyarov: the king’s bishop fianchetto for Black in the Ruy Lopez. It is certainly more interesting than the Berlin Wall. Anish Giri has also been doing very well of late. I was impressed by the way he got an edge against Navara from a seemingly innocuous line of the Caro Kann Advance Variation.

This tour will be the official circuit for more Indian chess players to qualify and participate in the global Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. The new MPL Indian Chess Tour will be held next year by Play Magnus Group (PMG), founded by World Champion Magnus Carlsen, in partnership with esports giant Mobile Premier League (MPL). This tour, which carries a $100,000 prize fund, will be the official circuit for Indian chess players to qualify for and participate in the global Meltwater Champions Chess Tour marking the first regional expansion of the Tour. Together with MPL, Play Magnus Group aims to bring the Tour’s innovative online format to India and encourage new growth in the game across the region. Already, an impressive seven Indian players have participated in the 2021 season of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. They included Indian Women's #1 and Women's World Rapid Champion Humpy Koneru, Grandmaster stars Vidit Gujrathi, Pentala Harikrishna and Baskaran Adhiban, as well as under-18 prodigies Praggnanandhaa, Gukesh D and Arjun Erigaisi.
