WELCOME! We are glad you are worshiping with us today! It is our desire to have a welcoming and safe worship atmosphere. Please silence your cell phone.

WELCOME on this Fourth Sunday in Advent. Advent is drawing to a close as we begin to glimpse at the story of Jesus’ birth prophesied in the Old Testament and proclaimed in the New Testament. The birth of Jesus is imminent. The salvation of our Lord is near. Angel Gabriel gives us hope and comfort with these words spoken to Mary, “Nothing is impossible for God.”

STEPHEN MINISTRY - Every day you see people who are hurting - those who have lost a job, lost a loved one, going through divorce...Stephen Ministers are God’s Ministry and can help you through a difficult time. Contact Jim Fehringer if you or someone you know could be helped by this ministry.

The City of York has issued a mandate requiring the wearing of face masks in public indoor places through February 28, 2021.

ORDER OF SERVICE

SONG…………………………………………….The Compassion Hymn…………………………………………………………(Page 8-9)

INVOCATION P: In the name of God the Father C: Thank You, Father, for sending Your only Son into the world to redeem my life from the pit of death and hell. P: In the name of God the Son C: Thank you, Jesus, for redeeming me with Your holy, precious blood and Your innocent suffering and death. P: In the name of God the Holy Spirit. C: Thank You, Holy Spirit, for bringing me to faith and into the family of God. Amen.

SONG…………………………………………………….Beneath the Cross………………………………………………….……..(Page 10)

CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION P: Since God has shown us His unconditional love by sending Jesus to die for our sins, let us confidently confess our sins to Him, knowing He is merciful and will forgive us our sins. C: Merciful Father, I confess that I have not lived as Your child in my thinking, speaking and doing. Neither have I reached out in loving ways to members of my family, to my friends or to my neighbors. I have failed miserable. Yet, Friend of sinners, I come to You asking for mercy, for forgiveness, for restoration of all broken relationships in the power of Jesus’ name. Amen. P: Jesus says, “Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends.” Upon this your confession, I, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you. In the stead and by the command of our Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen.

CONFESSION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

HYMN……………………………….……….Glory Be to Jesus……………………………………………………………………..LSB #433

+ FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION +

While on earth, Jesus demonstrated the way we are to act toward our heavenly Father, our families, our neighbors and our world. Jesus lived the perfect, obedient life that we are unable to live. He was faithful where we are unfaithful. In spite of our disobedience and unfaithfulness, He calls us to be His stewards and equips and empowers us to carry out His work. “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace “(1 Peter 4:10).

PRAYERS OF THE CHURCH/LORD’S PRAYER

BENEDICTION P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you now and forever. C: Amen.
