Page 2 North Coast Anglican June 2018 Bangalow Celebrates the Feast of Pentecost

The celebration of the Feast of Pentecost is a great way to end the season of Easter. Whilst you may think the red balloons are for the “Birthday of the Church” they are in fact meant to represent the tongues of fire resting on each of those gathered (Acts 2:3). The Pentecost reading, Ezekiel’s Valley of Dry Bones, and the Gospel (John 15:26-27, 16:4b- 15) all seek to remind us of the Spirit that is within each of us and which gives us life. Before the Paschal Candle is extinguished to mark the end of Easter we were commissioned to “live out what we proclaim” and dared to embrace each other and grow in love; dared to share our riches in common and minister to those in need; dared to pray for each other until our hearts beat with the longings of God; dared to carry the light of Christ into the world’s dark places. Come, Holy Spirit, come!
