Worcester Ramblers: - Barmouth Walking Week Itinerary

Walk Leader Mick Box

Worcester Ramblers holiday is to take place under the National Ramblers guidance for . Only members registered on this holiday are allowed to join the walks please ensure that Mick Box has your contact details including mobile number and Ramblers Membership number before the holiday. Before the walk Check for symptoms. If you, or any of your household/bubble, have any COVID-19 symptoms you must not attend the walk. What to take Bring your own food and plenty of water. You should bring your own alcohol based hand sanitiser, face covering and consider bringing your own basic first aid kit. Getting to the walk Plan how you will get to the walk, if you are sharing accommodation where possible car share On the walk Follow the government guidelines on physical distancing and listen to the walk leader’s briefing so you know what to do. Do not share food, drink or equipment such as walking poles. Let the walk leader or backmarker know if you are having problems, feel unwell, or need to slow down or stop. After the walk If you develop symptoms after the walk, apply for a COVID-19 test and support NHS contact tracing if requested. Please inform the leader, as Ramblers want to know affected numbers.

Due to the strong possibility that the short walk leader may not be able to attend, only one walk per day from this programme will take place. If you decide not to walk with the group you must comply with the Welsh Government rules

All walks are circular with our first walk on Sunday taking place from Barmouth.

Sunday 16th May 2021 Walk - Liynnau Cregennen 10 miles (GPS FILE BAR01) Meeting Point: Barmouth Harbour LL42 1ET at 10am From Barmouth Harbour we take the footbridge across and along the Estuary to Arthog visiting the fabulous waterfalls we continue to Llynnau Cfegennen. The walk follows the Fforduu Ddu returning back to Barmouth via the Arthog Bog Nature Reserve

The walks for the rest of the week we be select from the list below and will be determine the day before the walk dependent on weather conditions

Walk - 10 miles (GPS FILE BAR02) Meeting Point: Bontddu by the bridge/school in Bontddu parking available on A496 in Bontddu From Bontddu follow the Afon Hirgwm passing the waterfalls in Bryntirion Woods we pass a Gold Mine with good views of the estuary and Cadair Iris to the Mynach valley. We continues up the valley before taking a steady climb to Diffwys, we descend to join the old stage coach road back to Bontddu

Walk - Cwn Bychan – Roman Steps 6 miles (GPS FILE BAR03) Meeting Point: Carpark at the end of the minor road from to Cwm Bychan near LL45 2PH This stenuous walk is for the tough ones in the group we take the Roman steps to the third highest summit of the range and return via Gloyw Lyn

Walk - Talydont 10 miles (GPS FILE BAR04) Meeting Point: Talydont car park on the A496 We head inland we follow the Afon Ysgethin through woodland to Pont-Fadog we take the by-way and ascend the Bwich y Rhiwgyr and along the top overlooking Llawlech. We then join the ancient road to cross the stone bridge at Pont Scethin before we return on the upland Bridleway and the historic Cors Y Gedol woodland to the finish

Walk - 10.5 miles (GPS FILE BAR05) Meeting Point: car park at Ty-nant LL40 1TL From the car park we ascend to the top of Cadair Idris via the Pony path follow the ridge to Mynydd Moel and we descend via Gau-Graig and return back along paths and road.

Walk - Llanelltyd 8.5 miles (GPS FILE BAR06) Meeting Point: Llanelltyd car park LL40 2ST From Llanelltyd we follow the path through woodland to the reservoir and Tynyllwyn. Contune to the top of Ispril then Pont Garth we then follow the River Cymmynach cross and follow though Galltyrheddwch wood and onto the beautiful New Precipice Walk and return to LLanelltyd

Walk – Dinas Oleu & Cutia 8.5 miles (GPS FILE BAR07) Meeting Point: Barmouth Harbour LL42 1ET We start by exploring the attractive foothills above Barmouth, the route climbs to hillside of Dinas Olue and on to “The Slabs”. We continue to Cerrig Arthur stone circle and beyond before return back via Cutia and the panorama walk to Barmouth

Walk – 7 miles (GPS FILE BAR08) Meeting Point: Harlech Bron y Graig Uchaf Long stay Car park LL46 2SR This low level walk following to coast through Morfa Harlech National Nature Reserve to Ynys and back to Harlech
