Hi Everyone, we all hope you had a wonderful holiday and are ready to be back at school. Our senior class has thought of some things that they would like happen in term four and graduation. We hope everyone has been safe and is healthy whilst we are in this pandemic. Just a reminder, students need to wear their hats in order to play in the sun, so remember to bring them. Hot lunches are back on Monday and Tuesday. We all hope you enjoy your time back at school and stay safe.

“IT’S COOL TO BE AT SCHOOL”

TO THE SMYTHESDALE COMMUNITY

We are a group of local residents wanting to start a discussion about what can be done to make Smythesdale an even better place to live. For a number of years the Golden Plains Shire has been running a Community Planning Program that aims to help local communities identify and address issues of importance. The purpose of this program is to bring key issues to the surface and then support interested community members to progress these issues.

Recently this process began with a community survey asking people to list issues of concern and/or interest to them and the broader Smythesdale community. We are now trying to think of more ways to encourage participation and gathering information on the thoughts of the Smythesdale community.

So we want to hear from you about ideas and plans for Smythesdale but importantly we want to encourage people to get involved with projects and hopefully work together to turn ideas into action!

We would like to you to pause and think about what might make Smythesdale a better place to live.

TO GET YOU STARTED – WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT?

Recreation Bushfire planning Transport Community facilities Roads and maintenance Community events Environment Health Open space Community groups Play spaces Shops and businesses

SO HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

1. Joining the Smythesdale Community Planning Facebook group - www.facebook.comgroups/3115619608535321/

2. By sending your ideas to [email protected]

3. If you are a member of an existing community group having a discussion with other members and getting back to us.

4. Contacting Bill MacNeill on 0409 145 267.

5. Leaving a message at the Smythesdale Post Office for Community Planning C/O Bill MacNeill.

WHERE TO FROM HERE?

In the startup period at least we will produce a regular newsletter providing information on ideas and plans that have been put forward. This will also be posted on the Facebook group page. We would like you to comment on these ideas and indicate which of these you support. Hopefully this will help us work towards a well supported Community Plan.

The truth is we don’t really know where this process will lead but we just want to give it a go and hear what people have to say.

Regards

Bill, Lin, Dennis and Graham Community Coordinators.
