The town's population was 4,209 in the 2001 census and 4,240 in 2012 becoming a very popular area to reside in for all. Amelia Earhart landed here and was famous for the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Boasting a small supermarket, specialist shops, several hairdressers, a beauty and skincare salon, doctors surgeries, an array of pubs and fast food outlets, a library and a large secondary school. Burry Port railway station exists and is served served by regular services east via Swansea and Cardiff to London and west into Pembrokeshire. A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY.... Page no. 1 Front cover Images Text Ymlaen Llanelli Business Improvement District 2021-2026 Renewal Ballot Proposal Nobody does it better! Page no. Working title 2 Intro Images Text What a difference five years can make! In 2015, Ymlaen Llanelli was created by Llanelli businesses for Llanelli businesses. Back then we couldn’t have imagined how far we would come, and even last year we couldn’t have foreseen where we would be now. We have worked hard for our town centre, and our track record speaks for itself: our ever- growing and hugely popular events have become the envy of other towns and cities; we have strived to support our members through the current crisis; we have become a strong lobbying voice for the Llanelli business community, fighting in your corner as a force to be reckoned with, and our continued work with the local Police has been key to tackling anti-social behaviour in town. Llanelli town centre is changing for the better, so much so that we were even shortlisted for a Great British High Street Award, but there’s much more that we can and need to achieve. From now until 2026, we plan to continue to expand our existing initiatives and introduce many more, developing our town centre to its full potential while helping businesses recover and adapt to the short- and long-term impacts of Covid-19. Our role will be crucial going forward. Please vote YES to allow us to deliver even more results over the next five years and keep the momentum going.

  • Ride: Kidwelly Start/Finish: North Dock Visitor Centre, Llanelli
Ride: Kidwelly Start/Finish: North Dock Visitor Centre, Llanelli Distance: 23 miles (3 hours plus stops) Level: Moderate Map: OS 1:50,000 Sheet 159 Swansea & Gower The Millennium Coast Path (NCR 4) is one of the gems of the National Cycle Network. This ride follows it to Pembrey, continues on a new section of NCR 4 to Kidwelly and returns through Pembrey Park. Apart from ups and downs over the railway it is essentially flat. The surface is mainly smooth asphalt except for gravel through Pembrey Park. There is parking at the Visitor Centre, which is three quarters of a mile west of Llanelli station. (Should you come by train.) From the start follow the coast path for four miles to Burry Port. On crossing the two footbridges keep to the right and follow NCR 4 signs. These sign a new route which follows an old railway line to north of Pembrey. Initially the path narrows to go under the B4311 and then, after a short rough section, over a mile of new tarmac takes you to the A484. The path continues under it but the tarmac ends and becomes a grassy track. This is rideable and lasts for a mile before ending on a minor road. A right turn takes you through Penged to the A484 which you cross and turn right onto a shared use path. Another mile and you’re in Kidwelly. In Kidwelly there is the castle to visit and a choice of three cafés. Just west of the railway station, less than a mile from the village centre, there is a pleasant little park which features a quay with historical connections.
