Green Screen – Project Manager Salary range: ca. £38,000 pa pro rata (2 days per week) Contract: until 21st Decemeber 2021 JOB DETAILS Film London is the capital’s screen industries agency. We connect ideas, talent and finance to develop a pioneering creative culture in the city that delivers success in film, television, animation, games and beyond. We work to sustain, promote and develop London as a global content production hub, support the development of the city’s new and emerging filmmaking talent and invest in a diverse and rich film culture. Funded by the Mayor of London and the National Lottery through the BFI, we also receive support from Arts Council England, DIT and Screen Skills. We own, jointly with Ukie, the Games London brand, under which we are delivering an ambitious b2b programme and the London Games Festival. Film London also has a national remit, the British Film Commission. Film London is a registered charity. The Green Screen Project Manager will play a key role in the management and implementation of the second phase of this five-year project as well as the implementation of two pilot projects. They will carry responsibility for the project management liaising with European partners, funders at the Interreg Europe Secretariat and project consultants. The postholder will report to the Chief Operating Officer in the Strategy & Resources Department at Film London. They will work closely with the Head of Production Services with regards to the implementation of Film London’s Action Plan. About the Green Screen Project: Film London has entered the second phase of leading an Interreg Europe funded partnership project working with seven other European regional partners – Greening the creative industries: improving policy practices for the European Audiovisual Sector (Green Screen). Project Partners are: • Bucharest Ilfov Regional Development Agency (Romania) • Flanders Audiovisual Fund (Belgium) • Choose Paris (France) • Municipality of Ystad (Sweden) • Municipal Company of Initiatives of Malaga S.A. – Promalaga (Spain) • Rzeszow Regional Development Agency (Poland) • Slovak Audiovisual Fund / Slovak Film Commission (Slovakia) The overall aim of Green Screen is to improve policies to achieve measurable reduction in carbon footprint in the audiovisual film production industry (film and high-end TV). Green Screen aims to help the audio visual production sector with aligning the practices of the industry within environmental standards and improving regional policies for the industry to adopt sustainable measures for producing films, TV series and documentaries. Film London has started increasingly using the UN SDGs as a point of reference to embed our environmental sustainability work as well as our diversity and inclusion work across everything we do. The project has now entered its second phase, starting on the 1st July 2020 its 7th semester. Recently two additional pilot action grants have been awarded by Interreg Europe to specific partners of the Green Screen partnership. The Grid Project is the name that has been given to a project examining the supply of green energy via the mains network to the key unit-base locations used by productions when filming on location in London. The benefits of green energy via the mains network would be to cut emissions/particulates and noise pollution from diesel generators. In simple terms the Grid Project will mean installing one or two mains supply cabinets at each of the three unit-bases. Productions using the locations will then plug into the cabinets rather than plugging into diesel generators. The project is supported by Interreg Europe and the Good Growth Fund. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Partnership & Project Management: • Supporting the efficient operational delivery of Phase 2, management of the partnership and engagement with partners to ensure action plans are delivered and reported within schedule and to deadline. • Working with the appointed consultants to manage the project and its risks, collect relevant data and ensure that reports are prepared, audited and submitted in time for the submission of the claims to the funder. • Working with Film London’s Finance team to track Film London’s expenditure of the project. • Working closely with Film London’s communications team and Ystad Municipality on the implementation of all aspects of the communications strategy, including the project website, social media profile, newsletters and press releases and presenting Green Screen at external events. • Supporting and facilitating the implementation of action plans and ongoing delivery of initiatives across the Green Screen partnership. • Working with Choose Paris to plan and co-ordinate steering committee meeting. • Providing advice and support to partners on all operational, strategic and communications issues in order for Film London to maintain a strong, positive reputation as Lead Partner. • Working with the relevant partner agencies to support the management and delivery of the two pilot actions. Project Management of Environmental Sustainability in London • Co-ordinate the implementation of the Grid Project working with the COO and Head of Production Services. This will include working closely with stakeholder and partners in London as well as reporting to the Good Growth Fund of the LEAP and liaising with the funder and GLA. • Supporting the delivery of Film London’s Action Plan and ensuring that Film London’s delivery on its actions remains at all times closely aligned with the Mayor of London’s Office environmental and cultural strategies and the priorities of the Operational Programme. • Supporting the fund raising to deliver Film London’s Action Plan in full. • Working with the Head of Production Services and the filming team to support the implementation of good practice and Film London’s Action Plan across the London Filming Partnership. • Working with Film London’s Equal Access Network to ensure greater integration of our work across environmental and social sustainability. • Working with Film London’s Communications team to effectively disseminate and share positive outcomes and activity in London including keeping Film London’s Green Screen web pages and information up to date. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL QUALITIES Essential: • Strong project management skills. • Experience of managing European partnership. • Experience of managing projects funded by Interreg Europe and knowledge and experience of their financial and reporting requirements. • Good understanding of the Mayor of London’s environmental and cultural strategy. • Knowledge and understanding of sustainable film and TV industry practices and a commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. • Strategic thinking and an ability to nurture and develop partnerships with industry and London stakeholders. • Excellent communication skills and experience of communicating with a variety of stakeholders and partners internationally. • Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of building relationships with clients / partners. • Strong administration skills, ability to deliver to tight deadlines, attention to detail and work under pressure. • Strong financial management skills. • Ability to work and thrive within a team environment. Desirable: • Knowledge and experience of some of the territories involved in the partnership. KEY TERMS AND CONDITIONS Place of work Film London’s offices are at The Arts Building, Morris Place, London N4 3JG, UK. Travel around London will be required. Costs for travel required by work will be reimbursed. Film London staff is currently working remotely and this will be reviewed in accordance with government advice. Hours and workload Time off in lieu will be possible in respect of hours worked over the standard week of 40 hours pro rata (inclusive of lunch breaks). Time off in lieu will not be allowed to accrue across leave years. Occasional work beyond 6:00pm may be required. Holidays All staff will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday pro rata in addition to public and bank holidays in each leave year (1 April to 31 March). Not more than 5 days unused holiday entitlement will be rolled into subsequent years unless at the express authorisation of the Board and no payment will be made for unused leave.
