Or, to consider the definition most relevant to our purposes, Praxis is the relationship between theory and practice. In 1963, the University of Zagreb, Croatia (then, Yugoslavia) opened their first international summer school on the island of Korcula, and the main symposium was organized by a group of forward-thinking philosophers, sociologists, economists, and historians who wrote for the Zagreb review, “Praxis.” The Praxis School was essentially a Marxist Humanist philosophical movement that had its roots in both Zagreb and Belgrade. Their emphasis was on the writings of the young Marx and in opening an inquiry into the future of mankind.

An Afro-Puerto Rican born and raised in the Bronx, NY she has dedicated her life to organizing, scholarship and activism. She is one of the most raw, honest, political, social, and cultural voices in the country. From Harvard to prisons, Rosa has spent her life dedicated to grassroots organizing and scholar activism. Throughout her scholarly career, Rosa has been a constant on the ground presence through the many political struggles facing people of color in the 21st century. She travels nationally as a public speaker, at colleges and universities, various organizations organizing and speaking to a wide range of communities. She was the first ever Afro-Latina women to run for Vice-President of the United States in 2008 on the Green Party ticket. She and her running mate, Cynthia McKinney, were to this date the only women of color ticket in American history. Rosa is the president and founder of Know Thy Self Productions, which has produced seven major community activism tours and consults on issues such as hip-hop feminism, media justice, voter engagement among youth of color, third party politics, United States political prisoners and the right of Puerto Rico to become an independent nation free of United States colonial domination.

    CBS NEWS/NEW YORK TIMES POLL For release: Thursday, October 30, 2008 6:30 pm (EDT) THE CAMPAIGN: FIVE DAYS TO GO October 25-29, 2008 Barack Obama has reached key thresholds with voters when it comes to overcoming some of his perceived weaknesses: more than half say he is prepared for the job, and nearly half are confident in his ability to handle an international crisis. Most voters expect the Democratic nominee to reach across the aisle, and say he understands and cares about them. And Obama benefits from a surge in early voting and first time voters. But polarization remains: more than half of those currently supporting John McCain say they would be “scared” of an Obama presidency. And the remaining uncommitted voters resemble current McCain voters more than they do Obama supporters. As the race for the presidency enters its final days, this poll finds the Democratic ticket with an eleven point lead over the Republicans among likely voters (including those who lean toward a candidate), with just 5% undecided.     2016 Presidential Electors Election Date: November 8, 2016 Electoral College Procedures The slates of presidential electors are provided to State Elections Officer by their respective political parties. Each party has eight electors in Louisiana, two at large and one from each of the six congressional districts; the names of the eight electors appear on the election ballot next to the names of the candidates for president and vice president for whom they intend to cast their electoral college votes.
