(b) whether the culprits candidly distributing drugs in the form of candys have been apprehended;

(c) whether it is also a fact that school management and parents are worried over the fact that some children have already become addicted to such candys;

(d) whether some students eat such candys to improve their concentration during exams; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI ): (a) to (c) Government has not received any report in this regard.

(d) and (e) The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has informed that the Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules, 1955 do not permit harmful drugs in food articles.

Senior residents at AIIMS working on ad-hoc basis

3003. SHRI T.M. SELVAGANAPATHI: Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether it is a fact that for the past year and a half over 300 senior residents at AIIMS, New Delhi have been working on ad-hoc basis as ad-hoc employees;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether it is also a fact that there were no regular selection for the last 18 months; and

(d) if so, the reasons therefor?

THE MINISTER OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI GHULAM NABI AZAD): (a) Yes.

(b) to (d) Due to stay given on 24.04.2009 by the Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal on regular recruitment of senior residents, they were being appointed purely on ad-hoc basis. The stay order has since been vacated on 24.09.2010 with the directions that for regular recruitment, reservation for SC, ST and OBC candidates must be provided as per Guidelines.

Promotion of Yoga and Naturopathy

3004. SHRI PIYUSH GOYAL: Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the details of action Government proposes to take to promote Yoga and Naturopathy in Western and Northern regions of the country; and

THE MINISTER OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI GHULAM NABI AZAD): (a) The Government through its autonomous Bodies viz. Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), New Delhi, National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi and National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), Pune is taking action to promote Yoga and Naturopathy in the country including Western and Northern regions. List of major schemes undertaken by these three autonomous Bodies in Western and Northern regions of the country is given in the Statement (See below).
