JAPAN Okinawa, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Osaka, Nagoya & Tokyo Airports

PROVISIONAL ITINERARY (all times local) Saturday, 3rd – Saturday, 17th October 2020

It’s been several years since our last “Airports & Airliners” tour to the land of the rising sun – Japan – so it’s about time we went back!

The airports have got bigger and busier! The airlines have updated and expanded their fleets and, thankfully, they continue to paint a good number of their aircraft in fabulous, colourful schemes – pictured left is one of ANA’s A380s, each one of them in great “Hawaii” colours.

We will have 12 full days touring the country, from Okinawa in the far south to Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo; visiting a total of 8 airports.

We fly on the scheduled services of a major airline (to be chosen in November, 2019 when airfares are released); travel around the country is by Shinkansen (bullet) and express trains; transfers between the hotel and the airport is by airport train or coach; we stay each night in a comfortable hotel within walking distance of the Shinkansen railway station on a bed and breakfast (B&B) basis; and are accompanied at all times by one of Ian Allan’s well-travelled and experienced Tour Managers, plus local guides at certain times.

By staying at hotels at, or within a short walk, of the railway stations we don’t have to charter expensive coaches. Also, railway stations throughout Japan have excellent ‘food courts’ giving you a wide range of eating options: from western-type fast-food meals (meat, fish, chicken, steaks, curries etc), to far eastern/Asian dishes. On all our previous trips to Japan, the location of the hotels and the meals available at the ‘food courts’ were very popular.
