Jake Brunger Writer/Lyricist Jake Brunger Writer/Lyricist Jake Brunger is a prolific writer across stage, screen and musical theatre. His stage musical adaptation of THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13 3/4 transferred to the West End from the Menier Chocolate Factory and was nominated for the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical. His debut feature film LOVE SARAH starring Celia Imrie premiered at Glasgow Film Festival and was released in cinemas worldwide last year, reaching #1 at the New Zealand Box Office. He was selected for the BBC TV Drama Writers' Programme and was named as one of the upcoming screenwriters-to-watch on the BBC’s New Talent Hotlist. He is currently working on numerous film and TV script commissions including an adaptation of Marc Levy's bestselling novel P.S. FROM PARIS for Blueprint Pictures / Studiocanal, an original screenplay called CITIZENS for Studiocanal and a sitcom for Buccaneer Media. Jake also writes for the Emmy-nominated Norwegian TV series ELIAS for Animando. Jake also has various ongoing musical theatre projects in development including commissions for Mark Goucher Productions and for Broadway producer Paul Blake. His many credits with his long-term collaborator composer Pippa Cleary include TREASURE ISLAND (Singapore Repertory Theatre); PRODIGY (National Youth Music Theatre) and RED RIDING HOOD (Singapore Repertory Theatre), which is now regularly produced worldwide. His plays include FOUR PLAY, which debuted at the Old Vic Theatre starring Jeremy Irvine and Richard Madden.     Monday 7 January 2019 FULL CASTING ANNOUNCED FOR THE WEST END TRANSFER OF HOME, I’M DARLING As rehearsals begin, casting is announced for the West End transfer of the National Theatre and Theatr Clwyd’s critically acclaimed co-production of Home, I’m Darling, a new play by Laura Wade, directed by Theatre Clwyd Artistic Director Tamara Harvey, featuring Katherine Parkinson, which begins performances at the Duke of York’s Theatre on 26 January. Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd, Humans) reprises her acclaimed role as Judy, in Laura Wade’s fizzing comedy about one woman’s quest to be the perfect 1950’s housewife. She is joined by Sara Gregory as Alex and Richard Harrington as Johnny (for the West End run, with tour casting for the role of Johnny to be announced), reprising the roles they played at Theatr Clwyd and the National Theatre in 2018.     Welcome It is my pleasure to welcome you to AS YOU LIKE IT, the first production of our 50th anniversary season, and the first show in our Shakespearean act. Shakespeare’s plays have been a cornerstone of our work at CSC, and his writing continues to reflect and refract our triumphs and trials as individuals and collectively as a society. We inevitability turn to Shakespeare to express our despair, bewilderment, and delight. So, what better place to start our anniversary year than with the contemplative search for self and belonging in As You Like It. At the heart of this beautiful play is a speech that so perfectly encapsulates our mortality. All the world’s a stage, and we go through so many changes as we make our exits and our entrances. You will have noticed many changes for CSC. We have a new look, new membership opportunities, and are programming in a new way with more productions and a season that splits into what we have called “acts.” Each act focuses either on a playwright or on an era of work. It seemed appropriate to inaugurate this with a mini-season of Shakespeare, which continues with Fiasco Theater's TWELFTH NIGHT. Then there is Act II: Americans dedicated to work by American playwrights Terrence McNally (FIRE AND AIR) and Tennessee Williams (SUMMER AND SMOKE); very little of our repertoire has focused on classics written by Americans. This act also premieres a new play by Terrence McNally, as I feel that the word classic can also encapsulate the “bigger idea” and need not always be the work of a writer from the past.
