Isaiah 54 - 66 Chapter 54 The City of Jerusalem. v. 1-4 The Lord will restore and expand the spiritual family of Sara. Gal 4:27 For it is written: "Be glad, barren woman, you who never bore a child; shout for joy and cry aloud, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband." NIV v. 5-7 Israel’s maker is her Husband. v. 17 No weapon formed against you will prosper. (Pastor Samoah story) Chapter 55 Invitation from the God of All. v. 1 Come to the waters and come to the Lord. Rev. 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let the one who hears say, "Come!" Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. NIV v. 3-5 The everlasting Covenant. v. 6-7 Seek The Lord while He is near and He will abundantly pardon. v. 8-9 The Lord’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours. v. 11 God’s Word comes down from Heaven. Chapter 56 Gentiles will come to God’s House of Prayer. Isa 56:1 This is what the LORD says: "Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed. NIV v. 6-7 God’s House of Prayer for All Nations. Chapter 57 Backsliding people can turn back and be forgiven. v. 1-14 Description of Israel’s deeply sinful condition. v. 15-19 The Lord is the High and Lofty One who will forgive them if they repent. v. 20-21 But, the Wicked will find no peace. Chapter 58 God gives His people a way back to Himself. v. 1 Call God’s people to repentance. v. 2-7 God’s chosen fast. v. 8-12 If they listen, God will again bless them. Isa 58:8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. NIV Chapter 59 The problems of Israel’s sin and the solution. v. 1-11 Israel’s sin’s are proclaimed. v. 12 Isaiah’s response to Israel’s sin. v. 17 The Armor of God; breastplate of righteousness, helmet of salvation. Eph 6:14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,...17 Take the helmet of salvation... NIV v. 20-21 The New Covenant. (See Jer 31:31-34) Isa 59:21 "As for me, this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, NIV Chapter 60 Messiah will come to The Gentiles. v. 1-3 This prophecy is fulfilled by Jesus according to the NT. v. 19-20 The Sun and moon will fade and the Lord will provide light. Rev. 21:23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. NIV v. 21 Israel shall be saved. Rom 11:25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written: "The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. 27 And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins." NIV Chapter 61 The Commission and Anointing of Jesus. v. 1-2a. Quoted by Jesus about Himself during His first coming. Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." NIV v. 2b-10 Speaks to the time of the Bridegroom’s second coming. v. 8-10 The New Covenant is prophesied again. (See Jer 31:31-34) Chapter 62 Zion’s Salvation. v. 1-5 Yahweh, the Husband, comes for Israel, His Bride. v. 6-7 There will be praying watchmen for Israel. v. 11-12 Behold, The Savior comes and His reward is with Him. Chapter 63 Messiah Comes a second time for Judgement. v. 1-5 The Day of the Lord. Rev 19:13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. v. 10 Israel grieved Holy Spirit, so He turned and fought against them. (Eph 4:30) Heb 3:7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice, 8 do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, 9 where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. 10 That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.' 11 So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'" NIV v. 16 Gentiles will become the Children of God, but not through Judaism. Chapter 64 Isaiah’s Prayer v. 1 This verse was reputed to be a catalyst for the Hebrides Revival. v. 4 This verse may be quoted or alluded to in the following: 1 Cor 2:9 However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived"— the things God has prepared for those who love him— NIV v. 6 All of our righteousness is as filthy rags. v. 8 God is the Potter and we are the clay. (See Jer 18:1-5) Chapter 65 Where Israel, the Kingdom and Eternity meet. v. 1-2 The Lord will be found by nations who weren’t looking for Him. Rom 10:20 And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me." 21 But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people." NIV v. 17-19 There will be new Heavens and a new Earth. Rev 21:1 Then I saw "a new heaven and a new earth," for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." NIV v. 20-23 No infant mortality, but babies born and longer life, but still death. Isa 65:20 "Babies in Jerusalem will no longer live only a few days. Old people will not fail to live for a very long time. Those who live to the age of 100 will be thought of as still being young when they die. Those who die before they are 100 will be considered as having been under God's curse. 21 My people will build houses and live in them. They will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 They will no longer build houses only to have others live in them. They will no longer plant crops only to have others eat them. My people will live to be as old as trees. My chosen ones will enjoy for a long time the things they have worked for. NIrV v. 25 Animals, including carnivores, will return to being vegetarians. Chapter 66 The conclusion and end of days. v. 1 Heaven is Yahweh’s throne and the Earth is His footstool. v. 8 Prophecy about Israel being reborn on May 14, 1948. Isa 66:18 "And I, because of what they have planned and done, am about to come and gather the people of all nations and languages, and they will come and see my glory.NIV v. 21 Some Gentiles will become Levites and priests. v. 22-24 All mankind will come to worship the Lord in one month and one week. .
