My life at INTO Debora from Brazil studied the International Foundation in Business and Humanities and is now studying BSc (Hons) Business and Management at the University of Salford. Find out more about her story.

LEARNING MADE FUN The way we studied politics was very exciting, full of extra information. The teacher was really helpful because she wouldn’t let the class be boring, she’d make jokes and keep us interested. I really liked that we could discuss with the teacher what we think, ask questions and talk about it. Sometimes our teachers would play some fun activities with us in groups.

“During your foundation year you learn so much, not just about what they teach you, but you learn the responsibility of being a grown up and having your own life.” DestinationMy life at INTO INTO Manchester 17

SUPPORT WITH MAKING FRIENDS A very good memory I have from the first week at INTO is when they took us bowling. This was a huge opportunity to meet people and make friends. INTO also arranged for us all to go shopping together, so this helped too. They would gather us for football, or to watch things together, so all the time there were activities that would enable us to make friends. The little things that INTO do kind of make you feel at home.

“INTO was the foundation I needed to begin a new life in the UK. I made very good friends that I still keep in contact with.”

NEW SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES My biggest challenge was to live alone for the first time – cooking everything, having your own place. After a while my friends and I started to cook together. One thing that I like is that when I make food today, I mix Chinese, Brazilian, and Russian cooking skills, because I had friends from all over INTERNATIONAL FLAVOURS the world who would teach me. I absolutely love it. Rusholme is one of my favourite places in Manchester because it has restaurants from all over the world. You don’t feel like you’re in the UK when you’re in Rusholme! You feel you’re in a mix of different countries. There’s also an international food market there.
