What began as a wild looking golf skort (combo of short/skirt) discovery in the fabric bin, turned into a fun weekly journey. The skort adorned with golf clubs and suitcases was worn each week by a different lady golfer. As in the movie version, the skort fit all shapes and sizes. We had such fun, Elke from Germany asked to take the skort home with her after our Winterset season. She shared our skort with her tennis group in Hamburg, Germany. Like the Winterset ladies, they passed the skort to each member and it magically fit each player. The adventure continued as a Hamburg team member took the traveling skort to the Canary Island in Spain. Where next? Heard maybe South Africa but we can let you know. Not to be outdone by Winterset lady golfers, the men golfers had their own weekly version wearing their bright green knee high socks and passing them to the next golfer. They now have their own group, the Brotherhood of the Traveling Golf Socks. Yep! Senior Amusement. 2019 Kentucky Derby The 2019 Kentucky Derby will be the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby, and will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2019, in Louisville, Kentucky. It is a Grade I stakes race for three-year-old Thoroughbreds at a distance of 1 ¹⁄₄ miles, and has been run at Churchill Downs racetrack since its inception in 1875. It was also the dawn of professional sports and feats of endurance and speed on bicycles were more lucrative than hitting home runs and scoring touchdowns. By the 1920’s, track cyclists were the greatest athletes on the planet, rocketing wheel to wheel around steeply banked “suicide saucers” at astonishing speeds…when wheelman Reggie “Iron Man” MacNamara was as tough as any UFC Champion….when Madison Square Garden’s biggest sellouts were Six-Day Bike Races…when Frank Kramer, the “Sultan of Speed,” earned as much money racing bikes in 1920 as Babe Ruth earned hitting home runs.

WELCOME BACK TO BAKU Dear friends, On behalf of Baku City Circuit, please let me welcome you to the third successive Formula 1 race weekend in Azerbaijan. Last year’s race in Baku was widely recognised as the most exciting and dramatic race of the year – if not the decade – by members of the media, teams, drivers and the global F1 fanbase alike. It truly was a race that had it all culminating in the most unexpected podium line up in many years. The fact that this historic race occurred under our new event title as the FORMULA 1 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX filled us with an even greater sense of pride and satisfaction for a job well done. This year we once again welcome the world to Baku at the slightly earlier date of late April to bear witness to the awe-inspiring sight of F1 cars negotiating one of the fastest and most testing circuits in Formula 1. Baku City Circuit’s winding, narrow sequences, 90-degree turns and high-speed straights - all set against the breath- taking backdrop of Baku’s UNESCO-protected old city, magnificent skylines and beautiful seaside promenade - have proven to be a major challenge to the current F1 grid, resulting in last year’s spectacular outcome and many on-track altercations. We are very confident of a similar explosion of drama, speed and bravery occurring once again for the 2018 edition. Furthermore, the off-track entertainment will be bigger and better than ever before with world-class music, visual and conceptual artists once again performing all along the specially constructed Fan Zone all weekend.

This year will mark the Firestone brand’s 67th Indy 500 victory. Firestone has more Indy 500 wins than all other tire manufacturers combined. CAN HINCH GO FROM THE POLE TO VICTORY LANE: James Hinchcliffe wrote the latest chapter of his comeback story when he scored the pole for the 100th Indianapolis 500 last weekend. History will be on his side this weekend as the Indy 500 pole has gone on to win the race 20 times. Forty-three times, the winner has come from the front row, the last time in 2010 with Dario Franchitti. Will Hinch covert his Verizon P1 Award into the Borg-Warner Trophy? Chris Jones/IMS Photo WHAT TO WATCH FOR THIS MONTH: IT’S NOT WHERE YOU START…: The last four Indianapolis 500 winners have started outside the top 10, including Juan Pablo Montoya, who came from 15th to win in 2015. With depth throughout the 33-car field for the Indy 500, including former winners Montoya, Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan starting from the fifth row or further back, can another star drive through the field to win the race? SECOND-GENERATION STARS HOPE TO ADD TO FAMILY LEGACY: The latest generation from two of open-wheel racing’s most familiar families comes to Indianapolis in hopes of adding to the family legacy. Marco Andretti—the grandson of 1969 winner Mario Andretti and son of Michael Andretti—has finished in the top three at Indy three times in his nine previous starts. He hopes to give his father’s team its fourth Indianapolis 500 win.
