Heliodore N. Mejak, this is true: His priestly vocation was a magnificent marathon. When he died on Christmas Eve, Msgr. Mejak ended a K priestly ministry of 72 years. Remarkably, he spent 63 of those at one parish — Holy Family in Kansas City, Kan. He served un - der seven popes and seven bishops. At the time of his death, he was reputed to be the oldest active Catholic priest in the United States — and some say the world. To many Catholics in the urban core of Kansas City, Kan., Msgr.
