Rothstein, Director Board of Bar Examiners 110 East Main Street, Suite 715 Madison, WI 53703 Re: Rule Petition 21-02, In the Matter of Modification of the Process by which Members Qualify for Transfer from Inactive to Active Status Dear Attorney Rothstein: I am assisting the Wisconsin Supreme Court with its consideration of rule petition 21-02, filed on June 8, 2021 by the State Bar of Wisconsin's then-President Kathleen A. Brost, then-President- Elect Cheryl F. Daniels, and Past President Jill Kastner. The petition asks the court to amend Supreme Court Rule 31.06 relating to continuing legal education requirements for the transfer from inactive to active membership status. The court voted to solicit written comment on the petition. It specifically voted to ask the Board of Bar Examiners (BBE) to file a written response stating its position on the rule petition. Accordingly, the court requests the BBE submit a written response to the petition by Monday, August 9, 2021. After the court has considered the written comments, it will evaluate whether a public hearing is necessary. If you have specific questions or other comments regard this matter, please contact me. Very truly yours, /s/ Julie Anne Rich Supreme Court Commissioner cc: Chief Justice Annette Kingsland Ziegler Justice Ann Walsh Bradley Justice Patience Drake Roggensack Justice Rebecca Grassl Bradley Rule No. 21-02 Page 2 Justice Rebecca Frank Dallet Justice Brian Hagedorn Justice Jill J.
