Peter, Paul and Mary Return to Cal Poly Performing Arts Center March 23 California Polytechnic State University Oct. 13, 2004 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: LISA WOSKE (805) 756-7110 Peter, Paul and Mary Return to Cal Poly Performing Arts Center March 23 SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Cal Poly Arts brings the legendary multi-Grammy-winning trio Peter, Paul and Mary back to Cal Poly Wednesday, March 23, for a special added Center Stage performance beginning at 8 p.m. No American folk group has endured longer or had a more loyal following than Peter, Paul and Mary. For over four decades, they have been singing the praises of peace and freedom during turbulent times and bringing hope to countless fans worldwide. This will be their third Cal Poly Arts engagement at the Christopher Cohan Center. “Peter, Paul & Mary are getting better with age,” states Cal Poly Arts director Ralph Hoskins. “Every show has been better than the last.” Tickets are on sale now for an evening of new music and classic hits, like “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “If I Had a Hammer,” “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” “Puff (The Magic Dragon),” “Where Have All the Flowers Gone,” “500 Miles,” “Lemon Tree,” and “In the Early Morning Rain.” Dr. Martin Luther King’s widow, Coretta Scott King, sums up the group’s power: “Peter, Paul and Mary are not only three of the greatest folk artists ever, but also three of the performing arts’ most outstanding champions of social justice and peace...Their compassion and commitment remain as strong as their extraordinary artistry.” Tickets for the Center Stage performance range from $56 - $76 and may be purchased at the Performing Arts Ticket Office, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
