It is an extremely important Policy document that will guide the growth of the Vale of Glamorgan over a fifteen year period and identifies the infrastructure needs of our communities in terms of employment, facilities and services needed to support that growth. In setting this framework for the future development of the Vale of Glamorgan, we have been mindful of the need to regenerate and support our communities and in doing so the Plan seeks to achieve a balance between economic growth, social cohesion and environmental impact. Wherever possible the Plan’s emphasis is on re-using previously developed land and minimising the need to develop on green fields. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Barry where the emphasis is very much on the continued regeneration of the Waterfront. In addition, we have ensured that sufficient emphasis is being placed on providing for an appropriate level of growth in other communities throughout the Vale thereby ensuring their long term sustainability and vitality.
