TONIGHT’S GAME SABRES at MAPLE LEAFS •This is the fourth of five meetings between the Sabres and Maple Leafs this season. •Last meeting: Buffalo defeated Toronto, 3-2 (OT), in Buffalo on Nov. 29 •The Sabres are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Maple Leafs; 2-8-0 on the road. •This is the 192nd game all-time between Buffalo and Toronto; Buffalo leads the series with a 106-62-23 record. •The Sabres are 42-37-15 on the road against the Maple Leafs all-time.

THIS DAY IN SABRES HISTORY •The Sabres are 11-7-1 all-time on December 27. •December 27, 2003: Jason Pominville makes his NHL debut in a 3-1 win at Washington. •December 27, 2008: Miroslav Satan records a goal and two assists as the Sabres defeat the Capitals, 3-1, in Washington.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW •If he is in the lineup tonight, John Scott will appear in his 200th NHL game. •The home team has won the last five games played between the Sabres and the Maple Leafs. •Drew Stafford leads all Sabres with 28 points (12+16) in 39 career games against the Maple Leafs. •Ryan Miller is 31-15-1 all-time against Toronto with a 2.44 GAA and a .922 SV%; Miller has more wins (31) and shutouts (4) against the Maple Leafs than any other team. •With a win tonight, Miller would have wins in four straight starts for the first time since winning five straight from March 19-27, 2012. •Christian Ehrhoff has 13 points (4+9) in his last 13 games against the Maple Leafs, dating back to Oct. 24, 2009, registering at least a point in all but three of those games. He has three points (2+1) in three games against Toronto this season. •Matt Moulson has scored seven goals (and added two assists) in his last six games against the Maple Leafs.

TRENDING UPWARD •In the 17 games since Ted Nolan was hired, the team has taken 47.9% of all shots in their games (a minus-2.5 differential per game), up from 40.2% (a minus-12 differential per game) in the 20 games before his hiring. •Four Sabres have a positive on-ice shot differential with the team this season: Ennis (53.9%), D’Agostini (53.5%), Moulson (52.2%), Leino (51.9%) •The team has improved its team 5-on-5 Corsi for Percentage* from 35.6% before Ted Nolan’s hiring to 47.1% in the 17 games under his guidance. The 11.5% improvement is a significant mark, equal to the amount that currently separates the third- and 30th-ranked teams in the NHL.

*Corsi for Percentage: The percentage of all shot attempts (shots on goal/missed shots/blocked shots) in 5-on-5 situations which are taken by the team. (Data via ExtraSkater.com)
