Eligibility criteria:

 Minimum marks for admission to the unreserved seats in all MA/MSc/MCom course of studies under Faculty Councils of Science &Arts is 50% at the honours level in the concerned subject as regular course of studies. For candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ DA/ SP categories, eligibility is minimum of 45% marks in honours in the relevant subject.  No candidate having obtained graduation/ post graduate degree from an Open University or through Distance Education Mode is eligible to apply for admission to any courses of post graduate studies.  Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences and Geospatial Sciences, Women’s Studies, M.Ed. (Fresher), M.P.Ed., MLIS, Mass Communication, MBA, MBA (Tourism Management), MBA (Human Resource) are multidisciplinary, eligibility criteria for admission for these subjects are as below: -

1. Environmental Sciences: Science graduates (10+2+3) having 50% marks Honours in Env. Sc. / Microbiology / Botany/ Chemistry/ Zoology/ Physics/ Geography/ Geology/ Physiology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry and B.Sc.(Agri.) Hons. (10+2+4).

2. Biotechnology: Honours in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Physiology with a minimum of 50% marks having pass subjects like Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physiology

3. M.P.Ed.: Regular B.P.Ed or B.P.E. course with a minimum of 50% marks.

4. Geospatial Sciences: Honours with Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Geography, Forestry, Wildlife Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Agriculture, Oceanography, Marine Sciences, Bioinformatics, Fisheries Science with 50% marks in Undergraduate.

5. Women's Studies: Regular Honours Graduates of any recognized University who have done the three-year Hons. Course in History, Pol. Sc., Philosophy, Sociology, Economics and Languages with minimum 50% marks.

6. MLIS: Regular Hons. Graduate with at least 50% of Marks in any subject.

7. Mass Communication: Any Regular Hons. Graduate with at least 50% of Marks

8. MBA Programme [MBA, MBA (T), MBA (HR)]: Regular Honours Graduates of any recognized University who have done the three-year Hons. Course/B.E./B. Tech./ M.B.B.S./B. Pharm. etc. with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates having valid score card in MAT, CAT, CMAT, XAT, GMAT, and JEMAT will be given exemption from written test. They will have to appear in GD and PI directly.

9. Hindusthani Classical Vocal Music and Rabindra Sangeet: Honours graduate in Music with a minimum of 50% marks.

10. Statistics: Honours in Statistics or Mathematics with minimum marks of 50%.

11. M. Ed (Fresher): Regular B.Ed. Course with a minimum of 50% marks.

12. LL. M.: Regular 3 Years or 5 Years LL.B. Course with a minimum of 50% marks. PROCEDURE OF SELECTION:

On the basis of Honours Marks for the Pass outs of B.U. Students

60% of the total intake of seats will be reserved exclusively for the pass-outs from the Under- Graduate Colleges affiliated to the . Admission to these seats will be offered strictly on the basis of marks secured in the concerned Honours subject. In case of the uniform score in the concerned Honours Degree, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Higher Secondary Examination is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. If the percentage of Higher Secondary marks is also be the same, percentage of Secondary Examination will be considered for ranking. If, at all these stages, performances of more than one student are found to be same, then final decision regarding selection of candidate will be referred to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BU.

On the basis of Admission Test

Remaining 40% of the seats will be filled up through written admission test from the applicants of the University of Burdwan and the applicants from Other University both. In case of the uniform marks in the written test, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Honours Degree is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. In case of the uniform score in the concerned Honours Degree, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Higher Secondary Examination is to be considered and calculated for determining the higher position in the merit list. If the percentage of Higher Secondary marks is also be the same, percentage of Secondary Examination will be considered for ranking. If, at all these stages, performances of more than one student are found to be same, then final decision regarding selection of candidate will be referred to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, B.U.

STAGES IN ADMISSION:

FIRST PHASE

 First phase is the form filling by the applicants. The online application fee for all the courses is Rs.300/-. Application fee for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC- B/DA/SP candidates is Rs.150/.

 After the completion of form filling, there will be two interviews for DA and SP candidates in the University where their eligibility will be verified on the basis of relevant documents. Candidates who will fail to establish their eligibility will be treated as belonging to Unreserved category only. Candidates of Hearing Impaired must have to submit current audiometric report at the time of interview.

ADMISSION FOR MERIT (HONOURS) CATEGORY (60% SEATS)

 Merit List for BU candidates will be published.

 Counselling for admission for this category will be held.

 Candidates admitted in the Centre of studies given as their 1st Choice will not be considered for Written Test. Admit Cards will not be issued for them.

ADMISSION FOR WRITTEN CATEGORY (40% SEATS)

 Download of Admit Cards for Written Test for candidates not admitted to 1st Choice from BU list and all OU candidates.

 Written Test for 40% seats. There shall be negative marking of 1 (One) mark for each wrong answer in the processing of the Result for the Written Test.

 Uploading of scores of Admission Test including the marks of Practical and Viva Voce for Hindusthani Classical Vocal Music and Rabindra Sangeet, marks of Personal Interview for Mass Communication and Group Discussion and Personal Interview for MBA, MBA (HR), MBA (T) and Field Test for M.P.Ed. will be uploaded.

 Merit List for 40% category seats will be published.

 Counselling will be held for admission for this category.

ADMISSION TO RESULTANT VACANCIES AFTER 15 DAYS OF CLASSES (ALL CATEGORIES)

 Name of the candidates who fail to attend at least 75% of classes in the first 15 days will be struck off from the list of admitted candidates.

 2nd Merit List for both the categories from the waiting list and candidates not admitted in the Option 1 are published.

 Counselling for admission (both fresh and upgradation to higher option) to the vacant seats for both the categories.

FINAL ROUND OF ADMISSION

 Merit List from waiting candidates and the candidates not in the Option 1 is published.

 Final round of admission to the vacancies.

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE:

Only the selected candidate for various kind of merit category will be called for admissions. The selected candidate list will be called for admission based on their rank. The selected candidate will have to report for admission at the GOLAPBAG CAMPUS of THE UNIVERSITY OF BURDWAN as per the programme notified along with the merit list. The merit list will be available in the RESULT button in Home page of the portal.

Candidates shall have bring along the documents and testimonials mentioned below at the time of admissions:  Original and photocopy of mark-sheets of all public examinations passed.  Original and photo copy of birth certificate/ admit card of Madhyamik or equivalent examinations.  Original Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribes / OBC-A/ OBC-B/ Differently Abled/ Sports certificate issued in favour of the candidates. Relevant Certificates must conform to Govt. Memo No. 1813-BCW/MR-94/11 dated 20th June, 2011.  Rank card, which is available in the online admission portal.  Printed copy of Application form, which is available in the online admission portal.  Students have to submit an affidavit sworn before the Notary Public within the 15 days of admission to the effect that they would not take part or incite any activity of ragging failing which they are liable to be expelled. The said undertaking should be countersigned by respective guardians.  Once documents verification confirmed by the respective department after that with in given time period candidate need to pay the respective fees through online.  Once verification confirmed then ‘Online Admission Fee Payment’ link will be visible to the profile page of the online portal. Candidates are advised to pay the respective admission fees through online and print the voucher copy.  If any candidate do not pay the admission fees within given time period then admission of that candidate will be terminated and will completely exit from admission procedure.  Admission will be confirmed of those candidate who pay the correct admission fees within given time period.

Mentioned below is the list of official authorities whose certificate will be considered valid for different categories of reservations.

Schedule Caste& Schedule Tribes:

Reservation for SC/ST candidates for admission will be as per Govt. Rules. (No.- 07-Edn(U)/1U- 89/13 dated 2nd January 2014).Relevant Certificate must conform to West Bengal Govt. Memo No. 1813-BCW/MR-94/11 dated 20th June, 2011.Candidates claiming reservation against SC/ST and OBC-A/OBC-B(relevant certificate is required) quota of seats must submit relevant caste certificates issued in their favour by one of the authorities listed below:  Deputy Collector of Land Revenue,  Kolkata Collector of Stamp Revenue,  Kolkata Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata,  Addl. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata,  Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata,  1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate,  Executive Magistrate,  Sub-Divisional Magistrate,  Sub-Divisional Officer,  Deputy Collector,  Addl. District Magistrate,  Collector and District Magistrate within their respective jurisdictions in case of candidates claiming to be Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe and ordinarily residing within such jurisdictions.

OBC-A & OBC-B:

Reservation for OBC-A/OBC-B candidates for admission will be as per Govt. Rules. (No.- 07- Edn(U)/1U-89/13 dated 2nd January 2014). The West Bengal Higher Educational Institutions (The Reservation in Admissions) Act, 2013 enacted by Govt of West Bengal has opened the opportunity for the students belonging to OBC-A and OBC-B (as determined and notified by Backward Classes Welfare Department, Govt. of West Bengal) for reservation of seats in higher education in the state. The communities listed by the Department of Backward Classes Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal as OBC-A and OBC-B would get the benefit of reservation.

Differently Abled

The candidates seeking admission under this category must produce a valid certificate issued by an appropriate authority not below the rank of Superintendent of Sub-Divisional Hospital. In the certificate, the mentioned extent of Physical Disability must not be less than 40%. Candidates claiming reservation against such quota, shall have to personally appear before the Medical Board constituted by the University on 25.08.2018 at 12 NOON in the Department of Sociology, Ground Floor, Composite Arts Building, Golapbag , B.U with all relevant reports and certificate in original for verification of their eligibility under this quota. If the candidate claiming reservation under DA quota fails to appear before the medical board on the stipulated date and time with relevant documents, he /she will be treated as a general candidate. APPLICANTS WHO HAVE SECURED LESS THAN 50% MARKS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF THEY FAIL TO QUALIFY FOR THE SEATS UNDER THIS CATEGORY.

Sports

The admission under SP Category will be guided as per the recommendation of the meeting of the Sports Board (Item No.- 13) dated 02.08.2017 and duly approved by the Executive Council (Item No.- 138 under any other Matter) dated 25.08.2017. Candidates seeking admission against Sports (SP) quota of seats must have to submit certificates for their participation in Inter-State or Inter-University Sports and Athletic competitions (not earlier than Madhyamik level) and physically fit for representing the University team in AIU Games as per AIU norms. Candidates who claim reservation against Sports quota, shall have to personally appear before the Board on 25.08.2018 at 12NOON. in the Office Chamber of the Secretary, Faculty Council(Arts), 3rd Floor, Composite Arts Building, Golapbag, B.U with all relevant certificates of performance in original for verification of their eligibility under this quota. If the candidate claiming reservation under Sports category fails to appear before the board on the stipulated date and time with relevant documents, he /she will be treated as a general candidate. APPLICANTS WHO HAVE SECURED LESS THAN 50% MARKS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF THEY FAIL TO QUALIFY FOR THE SEATS UNDER THIS CATEGORY.
