Excellency,

I have the honour to refer to the forthcoming visit of the Secretary-General to your country. While some adjustments will need to be made in line with our recent discussions with Ambassador Peleg, it seems that, on the whole, the programme drawn up for the Secretary-General's visit, when it was originally planned to take place in February, continues to be suitable. This also applies to Mrs. Annan's programme. We should be grateful if you could let us have the finalized programmes by Tuesday, 10 March 1998.

As for the delegation accompanying the Secretary-General and Mrs. Annan, it will be composed as follows:

Each of the officers providing security for the Secretary-General will carry a Smith and Wesson 9mm model 3953. The serial numbers are VDC8985 (Mr. McCann), VED5124 (Mr. Panzarino} and VDC4642 (Mr. Robinson). They will carry a total of 70 rounds of ammunition. Mr. McCann will travel in advance of the delegation and his itinerary will be communicated to you separately.

The Secretary-General's delegation will arrive in Jerusalem by road on 24 March 1998 at 1200 hours will depart from Tel Aviv for Munich on 26 March 1998 at 1615 hours on Lufthansa flight LH689.

The Secretary-General's blood type is 0 Rh+ (0 positive) and Mrs. Annan's blood group is B +. Neither follows a particular diet but would prefer not to eat tomatoes and pineapples.

This said, my office stands ready to provide any clarification you might require in order to finalize the preparations for the Secretary-General's visit.
