◆ MIKE FITZPATRICK ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: For the week of September 9, Alex Bartlett of the Varsity Football ​ ​ ​ and Competition Cheer team was selected. Alex was recently selected to the All-State team. For the week of September 16, Aaron Jones from the from the Varsity Football team was selected. Aaron caught ​ ​ two passes last week vs. Ola. ◆ SOFTBALL RANKED #8 IN THE STATE: The Varsity softball team currently ranks #8 in the state in AAAAA with ​ an overall record of 14-5. The Varsity team will host Riverdale on Monday, September 16 in a ​ ​ doubleheader, travel to Starr’s Mill on Tuesday, September 17, and host Griffin for Senior Night on ​ ​ Thursday, September 19. ◆ VOLLEYBALL RANKED #7 IN THE STATE: The Varsity volleyball team currently ranks #7 in the state with 14 ​ victories on the season. The volleyball team defeated Jonesboro last week in region play. The team will take on region rivals Starrs’s Mill and Griffin on Tuesday, September 17. Updated standings for varsity ​ ​ volleyball can be found here. ​ ​

◆ CROSS COUNTRY GIRLS WIN COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP: The Cross Country Girls won the county ​ championship last weekend and the boys team finished second. Junior Jacob Raville finished second ​ ​ overall for the boys and Senior Emma Baus finished second overall for the girls. ​ ​

◆ JV FOOTBALL WINS TWO IN A ROW: The JV football team defeated McIntosh 27-7 on September 5 and ​ defeated Pike County 35-20 on September 12. Xavier Clay and Ethan Bolesterli led the way offensively ​ ​ ​ ​ for the Wildcats. Jaylon McClendon and Ford Van Meter were standouts on defense. The Varsity team ​ ​ ​ ​ lost to Northside on Friday. Austin Williams threw a to Braylon Kennedy in the 4th ​ ​ ​ ​ quarter. The Varsity team travels to Chapel Hill on Friday for a 7:30pm kickoff. Varsity football standings can be found here. ​ ​

◆ SUDDEN CARDIAC AWARENESS: Whitewater High School will be hosting a sudden cardiac awareness ​ informational night on Monday, September 30 at 6:30pm in the auditorium. The Jeremy Nelson and Nick ​ Blakely Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act (SB60) requires all high schools to​ hold an informational ​ ​ meeting twice per year regarding the symptoms and warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest.
