He joined San Jac last season from Paris Junior College, where he served as assistant men’s basketball coach, following his time in the same position with Panola College. His experience includes playing basketball and serving as a student assistant coach for Texas Wesleyan University, where he was a member of the 2006 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national championship team. He was one of four recipients across the nation to receive the NAIA Champions of Character Award for his contributions on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. His other accolades include the university’s Gene & Anne Burge Sportsmanship Award and Golden Crutch Award. Talley holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Texas Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University. He played at San Jac for head coach Scott Gernander Sr., in the 2001-2002 season, posting a 30-2 overall record and holding the No. 1 ranking in the country before transferring to the University of California – Riverside and then California Baptist after tearing his second ACL. Mailhot is a 2005 graduate of California Baptist University with a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in management, cum laude. He was married in 2011 to Lady Mayerly Gomez-Rincon.
