The morphological features of this species were examined indirectly by image analyses software. This finding also supports the documented occurrence of the diamondback puffer fish along Turkish coasts. The population of Lagocephalus spadiceus (Richardson, 1845), one of the Lessepsian species that migrated from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal, has been growing rapidly in Turkey in recent years. This situation poses a serious danger to fisheries and human health. There is little information about the biology of this species. The presently reported study permits a greater understanding of the age and growth characteristics of the pufferfish L. spadiceus from the Gulf of Iskenderun, north-eastern Mediterranean. Materials and methods. Samples were captured by commercial bottom trawlers at depths of 24–50 m during 9 trawling operations conducted during the fishing seasons between 2012 and 2013 in the Gulf of Iskenderun, north- eastern Mediterranean. Age determinations were carried out using vertebrae. Images of vertebrae suitable for age determination were obtained with a dissecting microscope. The index of the mean percentage error (IMPE) was calculated to assess the precision of the age determinations between two independent readers. -

Supplement, 2017, 2(3): 22-30 -RESEARCH ARTICLE- The Factors Increasing of Invasiveness Potential of Five Pufferfishes in the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkey Halit Filiz1*, Sercan Yapıcı1, Gökçen Bilge1 1 Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Faculty of Fisheries, 48000, Kötekli, Menteşe, Muğla Abstract The Aquatic Species Invasiveness Screening Kit (AS-ISK) has been used in order to exhibit the factors increasing the invasiveness of Pufferfishes on the Muğla coast. Basic Risk Assessment (BRA) scores were calculated as 28.0 (Lagocephalus guentheri), 31.0 (Torguigener flavimaculasus), 33.0 (Lagocephalus suezensis), 38.0 (Lagocephalus spadiceus) and 40.0 (Lagocephalus sceleratus) and these scores were indicated a high risk of invasiveness for the species. The factors increasing overall AS-ISK scores were; high climate match, tolerance of a wide range of environmental conditions, flexibility in utilizing food resources, high fecundity, small size at maturity, high reproductive effort, reliable data about parasite transmission and high invasiveness potential elsewhere while factors decreasing scores were; no hybridization with native fish, and no parental care. This information is expected to allow managers and agencies that are responsible for risk assessment and management of lessepsian/invasive species to perform a better decision-making. Panov Abstract This work presents a current (2018) annotated list of marine NIS and cryptogenic species in Greek marine waters. For this purpose, we updated information from previous lists, included new data from several new NIS and cryptogenic records and recent taxonomic studies, and followed current taxonomic modifications for the alien/cryptogenic status of several introduced species. Our extensive literature survey and revisions resulted in the exclusion of 61 species, which were included in previous lists, and the addition of 41 new alien species reported in the 2016–2018 period plus ten old NIS records.
