Boris Becker Former tennis superstar, commentator, entrepreneur, coach Boris Becker made tennis and sporting history when he became the youngest male to ever win the Wimbledon singles championship. The year was 1985 and he was just 17. He took the title again in 1986 and for the third time in 1989. Today, Boris remains the youngest-ever winner of The Championships, Wimbledon. Over the course of his career, he won a total of 49 titles, including 6 grand slams, and a host of Olympic medals, and his success helped to make tennis a national sport in his home country of Germany. Since retiring from professional tennis, Boris has been offered a host of new opportunities as well as new ways to showcase his knowledge and expertise on all things sport. He wrote a sports column for The Times and was a tennis commentator for the BBC, alongside fellow former tennis greats John McEnroe and Pat Cash, from 2002 until early 2014 when Boris became Novak Djokovic’s head coach in an attempt to further advance the Serbian tennis star’s career. His efforts certainly paid off, as Djokovic was crowned Men’s Single Champion of Wimbledon 2014. He is also the founder of Boris Becker GmbH and provides testimonials for selected brands, including Mercedes-Benz, IWC, Rodenstock and Pokerstars. Boris is closely involved in several charitable projects. He is Vice Chairman and an academy member of the Laureus Sports for Good Foundation, is an ambassador for the German AIDs Foundation and a Member of the Board of the Elton John AIDs Foundation. His illustrious career spanned two decades, and he continues to entertain and inspire audiences with details of his experiences as a top international tennis player, and the lessons he learned when dealing with the insatiable media.
