CANTON, OHIO – The following is a sampling of events, happenings and notes that highlight how the Pro Football Hall of Fame serves its important mission to “Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE!”

JOE HORRIGAN NAMED WINNER OF PRESTIGIOUS JACK HORRIGAN AWARD NAMED AFTER HIS LATE FATHER Joe Horrigan, who retired from the Hall of Fame on June 1 after 42 years of service, was recognized on Thursday as the recipient of the 2019 Jack Horrigan Award given by the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA).

Joe Horrigan, regarded as the foremost historian on pro football, is the son of the late Jack Horrigan who was a sportswriter for UPI and the Buffalo Evening News, public relations director for the League (1963-66) and vice president of public relations for the (1966- 73). The prestigious award is given to the league or club official for his or her qualities and professional style in helping the pro football writers do their job. Joe Horrigan was nominated for the award for his meticulous documentation of pro football history and making that history accessible to journalists during his tenure at the Hall of Fame.

Rick Gosselin, the 2004 PFWA Dick McCann Award winner who is a member of the Hall’s selection committee commented, “You can debate the greatest player in NFL history. Or the greatest . Or the greatest coach. But at one position there is no debate. There has been and will only be one gatekeeper to Canton – that's Joe Horrigan.

Joe Horrigan is the second executive from the Hall of Fame to win the Jack Horrigan Award preceded by the Hall’s longtime Vice President of Public Relations Don Smith in 1997. Several Hall of Fame members have also been bestowed the award including: O.J. SIMPSON, , , , , , , , , , , , GIL BRANDT and .

GOLDY THE G.O.A.T. REVEALED AS THE HALL’S MASCOT Goldy The G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) was unveiled as the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s first-ever mascot on Saturday, June 1 at the Hall’s Kickoff to Summer event.

17 GOLD JACKETS ATTEND 8th ANNUAL SALUTE TO GREATNESS More than a dozen Gold Jackets (a term used for living members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame) were on hand at the prestigious Glen Club in Glenview, Ill. June 3-4, 2019 for the 8th Annual Salute to Greatness.

The event is a major fundraiser for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, to support its Mission to “Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE. A portion of the proceeds also went to the Beyond Sports Foundation that focuses on using the power of sport to transform lives by turning athletic ability into life opportunity.

The event included a cocktail reception, dinner and evening program led by popular Chicago broadcaster Pat Boyle from NBC Sports Chicago. Pro Football Hall of Fame President and CEO David Baker also hosted a roundtable featuring Hall of Famers JOE DeLAMIELLURE, , and Mary Wilson, the widow of Hall of Famer , JR. A special tribute was paid to Hall of Fame coach and Chicago native .

CLASS OF 2019 SITE VISIT Class of 2019 Enshrinee GIL BRANDT visited Canton this week in preparation for the Enshrinement Ceremony at Hall of Fame Stadium. He toured the Hall and met with Hall of Fame staff to plan for the upcoming 2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week Powered by Johnson Controls.

DAY OUT WITH DAD EVENT ON SATURDAY, JUNE 22 Hall of Fame will host the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s annual “Day Out with Dad” event on Saturday, June 22.

The event includes a day of family fun centered around an Official Hall of Fame Character Camp which includes football skills and drills. Parents and their children can spend the day bonding while also getting up close and personal with one of the greatest to ever play the Game. In addition to the exclusive Character Camp that is based off the Hall’s five core values learned from the Game – commitment, integrity, courage, respect and excellence – a ticket includes lunch vouchers from Chick-fil-A, admission into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and parking.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at www.profootballhof.com/tickets. Tickets are available online until Wednesday, June 19 at noon EDT. Cost for “Day Out with Dad” is just $38 (the total value is over $100) and includes one adult and up to four children (12 years old and under). Additional add-on tickets are available for extra adult and children admissions.

Check-in for “Day Out with Dad” begins at 8 a.m. on the day of the event and the activities kick off at 9 a.m. The event will take place at the National Youth Football & Sports Complex (1700 Blake Ave NW, Canton, Ohio 44708) at Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village.
