What is Linux?
Linux is an Operating System. It was created by a man named Linus Tarvolds in 1991, releasing his first prototypes.
Later on March 14th, 1994 Version 1.0 was officially released under the GNU/GPU (General Public Use) aka Free Open Source Software (FOSS) license, created by then Free Software pioneer Richard Stallman.
Linux was in fact created solely because UNIX at the time was unable to be had due to many reasons, including expensive proprietary hardware. Linux aimed to change that.
Linux can now be run on almost every hardware platform, and makes great use of older, slower legacy hardware.
