Palaeonlologia Polonica, 50, 3—94, 1990. Taxonomic and ecological analysis of the ammonite assemblages, as well as their general paleogeographical setting, indicate that the Albian deposits in the Polish part of the Central European Basin accumulated under shallow or extremely shallow marine conditions, while those of the High-Tatra Swell were deposited in an open sea environment. The Boreal character of the ammonite faunas in the epicontinental area of Poland and the Tethyan character of those in the Tatra Mountains are evident in the composition of the analyzed assemblages. -

The cephalopod fauna from the marly limestones to marls here indicates Late Valanginian to Early Aptian age. The deposition of the marly limestones and marls of this interval occurred during depositional- ly unstable conditions. The underlying Biancone Formation (Maiolica Formation) is of Early Valanginian, whereas the lowermost Rosso Ammonitico is of Jurassic to Berriasian age. The ammonoid fauna consists of 27 different genera, each represented by 1-2 species. The assemblage at the Puez section is dominated by the Phylloceratina (30%) and the Ammonitina (34%). Phyllopachyceras (17%) and Phylloceras (13%) (both Phylloceratina) are the most frequent components, followed by Lytoceras (12%) (Lytoceratina), and Barremites (10%) and Melchiorites (8%) (both Ammonitina). The cephalopod fauna is purely of Mediterranean origin. Zusammenfassung Unterkreide Ammonoideen (424 Exemplare) der Puez Lokalität in den Dolomiten Süd-Tirols wurden unter- sucht. Die Fauna der mergeligen Kalke und Mergel von Puez zeigen ein Alter von Ober-Valanginium bis Unter-Aptium an. Die mergeligen Kalke und Mergel dieses Abschnitts lagerten sich unter instabiler Bedingungen ab. Die unterlagernde Biancone Formation (Maiolica Formation) zeigt Unter-Valanginium an, wogegen die tiefste Formation des Rosso Ammonitico auf Ober-Jura bis Berriasium hindeutet. -

This paper concerns thè conclusive researchs on Pliensbachian Phyllo- ceratina from Italy, among which thè genera Geyeroceras Hyatt, 1900 and Partschiceras Fucini, 1923 were already investigated (Fantini Sestini, 1969, 1971). The fossils were collected in stratigraphic sections from Selva di Zandobbio and Alpe Turati in Lombar- dy and from thè M. Nerone area in thè centrai Apennines. They consist of internai moulds and complete shells. The family Juraphyllitidae is present with genera: Jura- phyllites Miiller, Meneghiniceras Hyatt, Harpophylloceras Spath e Galaticeras Spath. Only four genera of Pliensbachian age can be attributed to thè fam. Phylloceratidae; they are as follows: Phylloceras Suess, 1865 with thè two subgenera Phylloceras s.s. e Zetoceras Kovacs, 1939. Test with ornaments visible at low magnification; internai mould smooth, section elliptical, ovai or sublanceolate; E/L and L/U with or without phylloids (minor subdivisions of folioles). Partschiceras Fucini, 1923 ( = Procliviceras Fucini, 1923; Phyllopachyceras Spath, 1925). Test with well distinct riblets, sometimes with ribs and periumbilical ridges; inter nai mould with weak constrictions in thè inner whorls and with very weakly outlined ornaments on thè venter; E/L with phylloids; Hantkeniceras Kovacs, 1939 (= Calaiceras Kovacs, 1939). Test smooth; internai mould smooth with rare weak nearly straight constrictions; L/U with 2/3 folioles jointed at their base. Calliphylloceras Spath, 1927. Test with very well developed riblets along with strong rounded ribs; internai mould smooth with 4 to 8 deep arcuate constrictions; L/U with 2 folioles jointed at their base. -

The Barremian heteromorph ammonite Dissimilites from northern Italy: Taxon- omy and evolutionary implications. Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 59 (3): 663–680. A new acrioceratid ammonite, Dissimilites intermedius sp. nov., from the Barremian (Lower Cretaceous) of the Puez area (Dolomites, northern Italy) is described. Dissimilites intermedius sp. nov. is an intermediate form between D. dissimilis and D. trinodosum. The new species combines the ribbing style of D. dissimilis (bifurcating with intercalating single ribs) with the tuberculation style of D. trinodosum (trituberculation on entire shell). The shallow-helical spire, entirely comprising single ribs intercalated by trituberculated main ribs, is similar to the one of the assumed ancestor Acrioceras, whereas the increasing curvation of the younger forms resembles similar patterns observed in the descendant Toxoc- eratoides. These characters support the hypothesis of a direct evolutionary lineage from Acrioceras via Dissimilites to Toxoceratoides. D. intermedius sp. nov. ranges from the upper Lower Barremian (Moutoniceras moutonianum Zone) to the lower Upper Barremian (Toxancyloceras vandenheckii Zone). The new species allows to better understand the evolu- tion of the genus Dissimilites. The genus appears within the Nicklesia pulchella Zone represented by D. duboise, which most likely evolved into D. dissimilis. In the Kotetishvilia compressissima Zone, two morphological forms developed: smaller forms very similar to Acrioceras and forms with very long shaft and juvenile spire like in D. intermedius sp. nov. The latter most likely gave rise to D. subalternatus and D. trinodosum in the M. -

The cephalopod fauna from the “coulées boueuses”, correlated with other macrofossil groups (belemnitoids, brachiopods, crinoids, echinoids etc.) and microfossil data (foraminifera) from the turbiditic unit, indicates Barremian age. The deposition of the allodapic limestones and marls in this interval occurred during depositionally unstable conditions which led to the forma- tion of turbiditic layers. The ammonoid fauna comprises 8 different genera, each apparently represented by a single spe- cies. The assemblage at the Serre de Bleyton section is dominated by ammonoids of the Melchior- ites-type. Ammonitina are the most frequent component (Melchiorites 52%; Holcodiscus 8%), followed by the Phylloceratina (Phyllopachyceras 3% and Hypophylloceras 2%), the Lytoceratina (Protetragonites 15%), and the Ancyloceratina (Anahamulina 10%, Karsteniceras 8% and Mac- roscaphites 2%). The ammonoid fauna consists solely of Mediterranean elements. Keywords: Cephalopoda, Ammonoidea, Barremian, Serre de Bleyton, SE France. Abstract The purpose of the study was to provide conclusive evidence for a chronostratigraphical assignment of the Qihulin Formation of the Longzhaogou Group exposed in Mishan and Hulin counties of eastern Heilongjiang, northeastern China. To develop an integrated view of the formation, all collected fossil groups, i.e. the macrofossils (ammonites and bivalves) and microfossils (agglutinated foraminifers and radiolarians) have been studied. The low-diversity ammonite fauna consists of Pseudohaploceras Hyatt, 1900, and Eogaudryceras Spath, 1927, which indicate a Barremian–Aptian age. The bivalve fauna consists of eight genera and 16 species. The occurrence of Thracia rotundata (J. de C: Sowerby) suggests an Aptian age. The agglutinated foraminifers comprise ten genera and 16 species, including common Lower Cretaceous species such as Ammodiscus rotalarius Loeblich & Tappan, 1949, Cribrostomoides? nonioninoides (Reuss, 1836), Haplophragmoides concavus (Chapman, 1892), Trochommina depressa Lozo, 1944. Based on data of the German-Tanzanian Tenda- guru Expedition 2000 and previous studies, and in accordance with the international stratigraphic guide, we raise the Tendaguru Beds to formational rank and recognise six members (from bottom to top): Lower Dinosaur Member, Nerinella Member, Middle Dinosaur Member, Indotrigonia africana Member, Upper Dinosaur Member, and Ruti- trigonia bornhardti-schwarzi Member. We characterise and discuss each member in de- tail in terms of derivation of name, definition of a type section, distribution, thickness, lithofacies, boundaries, palaeontology, and age. The age of the whole formation appar- ently ranges at least from the middle Oxfordian to the Valanginian through Hauterivian or possibly Aptian. The Tendaguru Formation constitutes a cyclic sedimentary succes- sion, consisting of three marginal marine, sandstone-dominated depositional units and three predominantly coastal to tidal plain, fine-grained depositional units with dinosaur remains.
