NWFB and Citybus Special Service Arrangements for Ching Ming Festival (Updated Version on 26 March) NWFB and Citybus Special Service Arrangements for Ching Ming Festival (Updated Version on 26 March) （26 March 2020, Hong Kong） New World First Bus (“NWFB”) will operate three special routes to facilitate passengers travelling to cemeteries in Chai Wan Cemeteries (Cape Collinson) during Ching Ming Festival. Details are as follows: NWFB Route 9C runs from Shau Kei Wan Station to Chai Wan Cemeteries (Cape Collinson): Date Service Hours Fare 4 April (Ching Ming Festival) 9:00am to 1:00pm $7.20 NWFB Route 388 runs between Chai Wan Station and Chai Wan Cemeteries (Cape Collinson): Date Service Hours Headway Fare 8, 15, 21 March and 10, 13, 19 April 9:00am to 2:00pm 30 mins 28 March 9:00am to 4:00pm 30 mins 22, 29 March and 11, 12 April 8:00am to 5:00pm 20 mins $7.60 1, 2 and 3 April 10:00am to 2:00pm 30 mins 4 April (Ching Ming Festival) and 5 April 7:00am to 6:00pm 15 mins NWFB Route 389 runs between Shau Kei Wan Station and Chai Wan Cemeteries (Cape Collinson): Date Service Hours Headway Fare 8, 15 March and 10, 13 April 9:00am to 2:00pm 30 mins 28 March 9:00am to 4:00pm 30 mins $8.20 22, 29 March and 11, 12 April 8:00am to 5:00pm 20 mins 4 April (Ching Ming Festival) and 5 April 7:00am to 6:00pm 15mins In addition, service of NWFB Route 9 will be strengthened on 4 and 5 April subject to passenger demand. There will be temporary diversion and bus stop relocation arrangements for 19 NWFB and Citybus routes during Ching Ming Festival. NWFB routes include 2, 2X, 8H, 9, 18X, 81, 82, 106, 110, 682, 694, 720 and 720A. Citybus routes include 8X, 19, 118, 606, 780 and A12. Chai Wan I. Road closures To facilitate members of the public to go to the cemeteries in Chai Wan, section of roads in the vicinity of the cemeteries will be closed in phases on 3, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 and 31 March, 5, 6, 7, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 28 April and 1 May 2019. Phase I (to be implemented on 3, 16, 23 and 30 March, 13, 19, 20, 22 and 28 April and 1 May 2019) Vehicles will continue to be allowed to use the section of Cape Collinson Road east of Lin Shing Road (i.e. the left-turning movement from Lin Shing Road to Cape Collinson Road leading to the vicinity of Chinese Permanent Cemetery) from 7.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Should traffic conditions worsen, police may consider escalating the traffic control to Phase II of road closure.     PWP No. 016NB Phased Reprovisioning of Cape Collinson Crematorium Environmental Impact Assessment Study EIA Report 3 AIR QUALITY Introduction 3.1 This Section presents an assessment of the potential air quality impacts associated with the demolition of the existing crematorium, construction and operation of the new crematorium. The air quality impact assessment was conducted in accordance with the requirements of Annex 4 and Annex 12 of the Technical Memorandum on Environmental Impact Assessment Process (EIAO-TM) as well as the requirements set out under Clause 3.4.1 and Appendix B of the EIA Study Brief. Description of the Project Project Background 3.2 The existing Cape Collinson Crematorium has started operation since 1962. Cremator Nos. 1- 10 were replaced in 1995 and Nos. 11-12 were commissioned in 2001. In order to cope with an increasing demand for cremation service, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) proposes to demolish the existing crematorium as well as to construct and operate a new crematorium in-situ as a replacement (hereinafter referred to as the Project). 3.3 The Project will be developed in two phases, namely Phases 1 and Phase 2. The Project Site is the site of the existing Cape Collinson Crematorium which consists of four service halls with twelve cremators. Site formation work will be carried out at the beginning of Phase 1 which involves extension of the existing car park area for the construction of an access road. After the site formation has been completed, a new crematorium with 4 cremators will be constructed to the north of the existing crematorium.

Why these practices emerged is considered in addition to their promotion by the state and reception by practitioners of popular religion. It is demonstrated that cremation became accepted with little fuss for practical, political, and cultural-religious reasons. It is also shown that columbaria, although possessing desirable fengshui, are problematic in that they lack sites for worshiping Houtu and are becoming smoke-free. Green burials, campaigned for by the state and endorsed by ethicists, have been met with resistance because they involve scattering cremated ashes (viewed as harmful and/or disrespectful to the dead) and fail to provide ancestors with permanent places of rest. As one book aptly sums up the baseline with its title: “No foreign bones in China”.2 In general, the Chinese attitude is summarized in the well-known dictum: “fallen leaves return to their roots” (luoye guigen 落葉歸根). Thus, even if a burial needs to be done somewhere else, it is conceived of as only temporary with the ideal of a one-day return “to the roots” – even if not manageable in practice. 3 In southern China, where secondary burial is common, this idea of “moving” the dead is not as unusual a thought as it might seem in most Western Christian contexts where the ideal is represented by “R.I.P.” (requiescat in pace): to leave the dead to rest in peace without disturbing them any further.
