Friday 07 May 2021 MORNING Time of Issue: 0800 hours IST ALL INDIA WEATHER SUMMARY AND FORECAST BULLETIN Significant Weather Features ♦ Under the influence of a Western Disturbances, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/thundershower very likely over Western Himalayan Region and isolated to scattered rainfall/thunderstorms is likely over plains of northwest India during next 3-4 days. Isolated dust storm is also likely over Rajasthan on 07 May, 2021. ♦ An east-west trough runs from eastern parts of central India to northeast India across east India in lower levels. This east-west trough is very likely to persist during next 3-4 days. The trough in westerlies roughly along longitude 90°E to the north of latitude 18°N in middle & upper tropospheric levels persists. ♦ Under their influence, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm activity is very likely over northeastern states and West Bengal & Sikkim; and isolated to scattered rain/thundershower likely over remaining parts of east India during next 3-4 days. ♦ Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Northeast India and Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during 7 to 10 May; Gangetic West Bengal on 09 May; isolated very heavy falls also likely over Assam & Meghalaya on 9 & 10 May. ♦ Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and a north-south trough over south Peninsula at lower levels, light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rain/thunderstorms is very likely over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep and Karnataka; and isolated rain/thundershower likely over remaining parts of south Peninsular India during next 4 days. ♦ No heat wave is likely over any part of the country during next 3-4 days. Main Weather Observations ♦ Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hrs to 1730 hrs IST of yesterday): at most places over Arunachal Pradesh Assam & Meghalaya and Jharkhand; at many places over Andaman & Nicobar Island, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra; at a few places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim,Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Kerala & Mahe and at isolated places over Odisha, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. ♦ Rainfall recorded (from 0830 hrs to 1730 hrs IST of yesterday) (1 cm or more): Punalur-6; Mahabaleshwar-3; Koraput-2; Haflong, Jamshedpur, Satna, Rohtak, Ranchi, Chandbali, Nandigama, Jalpaiguri and Gangtok-1 each. ♦ Thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hrs IST of yesterday to 0530 hrs IST of today): at most places over Madhya Maharashtra & Kerala & Mahe; at a few places over Punjab, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and at isolated places over Odisha, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh , Chhattisgarh and North Interior Karnataka. ♦ Maximum Temperature Departures as on 06-05-2021: Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Konkan & Goa; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Gujarat Region, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep; at a few places over Saurashtra & Kutch and at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. They were markedly below normal (more than -5.1°C) at a few places over West Rajasthan; appreciably below normal (- 3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal & Chhattisgarh; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) most places over Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and South Interior Karnataka; at many places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Uttar Pradesh; at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 43.4°C was reported at Jhansi (West Uttar Pradesh) and Akola (Vidarbha). ♦ Minimum Temperature Departures as on 06-05-2021: Minimum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Vidarbha, Konkan & Goa, South Interior Karnataka and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. They were markedly below normal (-5.1°C and above) at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Bihar, and Gujarat State; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many places over Gangetic West Bengal; at a few places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at many places over Assam & Meghalaya and Jharkhand; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and West Madhya Pradesh and at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Odisha and Coastal Karnataka and near normal over rest parts of the country. Forecast and Warning for any day is valid from 0830 hours IST of day till 0830 hours IST of next day For more details kindly visit www.imd.gov.in or contact : +91 11 24631913, 24643965, 24629798 (Service to the Nation since 1875) Meteorological Analysis (Based on 0530 hours IST) ♦ The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid and upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along longitude 64°E to the north of latitude 26°N persists. ♦ The trough in westerlies roughly along longitude 90°E to the north of latitude 18°N between 3.1 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level persists. ♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over West Rajasthan & neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level. ♦ The cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka & neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists. ♦ The trough from above cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka & neighbourhood to South Kerala coast at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists. ♦ The cyclonic circulation over Northern parts of Central Madhya Pradesh extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level persists. ♦ The east-west trough from the above cyclonic circulation over Northern parts of Central Madhya Pradesh to Tripura across Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists. ♦ The trough/wind discontinuity from the cyclonic circulation over northern parts of Central Madhya Pradesh to Marathawada at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists. ♦ The cyclonic circulation over North Gujarat coast at 3.1 km above mean sea level persists. ♦ The cyclonic circulation over Southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Maldives area at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists. Weather Forecast for next 5 days * upto 0830 hours IST of 12th May, 2021 ♦ Meteorological sub-division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in Table-1. ♦ No significant change in maximum temperatures over most parts of Northwest India during next 2 days and rise by 2-3°C thereafter. ♦ No significant change in maximum temperatures over most parts of the country during next 3-4 days.
