We are deeply grateful to the referees of this paper for the very helpful comments. These comments are fully understood by the authors and individually responded to. Our responses to the comments are listed below. Reply to comments from Anonymous Referee #1: Overall Comments: My overall comments are favorable. I thought the paper presented interesting results of the use of a vehicle emission model to infer the dominant sources of vehicle pollution in Macao, as well as the potential use of traffic information linked to an emission model and air dispersion model to inform environmental and transportation policy. My major comment on the content of the paper, is that the authors need to provide more information into how the emissions and air quality concentrations were estimated are estimated. For example, the paper is unclear on how the vehicle split by link is estimated, how the speeds are estimated and applied in the vehicle emission model, and how the ‘fleet average’ emission rates in Table 4 are estimated. Also the comment Printer-friendly version Discussion paper discussion on the air dispersion modeling is very limited. We appreciate the referee’s favorable comments. According to specific comment on the method and data details, we try out best to inform the readers of the estimation of fleet split and speed profiles (e.g., Equations 3, 5 and 6, see Page 7), the development of local emission factors (e.g., Page 9 to Page 10). -

Australia Overview 2018-19 Individual Income and Social Taxes Gaining an understanding of the tax system in a new country is a critical step in addressing risks and reducing costs for companies with mobile employees. This overview summarizes key individual income and social tax compliance and tax planning considerations for companies sending employees to work in Australia. Individual income tax overview A resident of Australia is subject to Australian income tax on worldwide income at graduated tax rates that range up to 45% of taxable income. A temporary resident (defined below) is not taxed on their foreign investment income or capital gains. A non-resident of Australia is subject to Australian income tax only on Australian source income at graduated rates ranging from 32.5% to 45%. Residency A person is generally a resident of Australia if the person is domiciled in Australia or spends more than 183 days in Australia during the tax year. Domicile is the person’s permanent home (where they intend to live permanently). Individuals holding a Temporary Skills Shortage visa (i.e., subclass 482) are classified as temporary residents if they meet the following criteria: • they do not meet the definition of residency for Australian social security purposes (e.g., not a citizen, permanent resident), and • the taxpayer’s spouse is also not a resident of Australia for social security purposes. A visitor is a non-resident if they intend and actually spend less than 183 days in Australia. Available tax treaties should be considered in cases of dual-residence. SHAREHOLDER CAPITALISM A SYSTEM IN CRISIS NEW ECONOMICS FOUNDATION SHAREHOLDER CAPITALISM SUMMARY Our current, highly financialised, form of shareholder capitalism is not Shareholder capitalism just failing to provide new capital for – a system driven by investment, it is actively undermining the ability of listed companies to the interests of reinvest their own profits. The stock shareholder-backed market has become a vehicle for and market-fixated extracting value from companies, not companies – is broken. for injecting it. No wonder that Andy Haldane, Chief Economist of the Bank of England, recently suggested that shareholder capitalism is ‘eating itself.’1 Corporate governance has become dominated by the need to maximise short-term shareholder returns. At the same time, financial markets have grown more complex, highly intermediated, and similarly short- termist, with shares increasingly seen as paper assets to be traded rather than long-term investments in sound businesses. This kind of trading is a zero-sum game with no new wealth, let alone social value, created. For one person to win, another must lose – and increasingly, the only real winners appear to be the army of financial intermediaries who control and perpetuate the merry-go- round. There is nothing natural or inevitable about the shareholder-owned corporation as it currently exists. Like all economic institutions, it is a product of political and economic choices which can and should be remade if they no longer serve our economy, society, or environment. Here’s the impact -

The federal individual income tax has seven tax rates that rise with income. Each rate applies only to income in a specific range (tax bracket). CURRENT INCOME TAX RATES AND BRACKETS The federal individual income tax has seven tax rates ranging from 10 percent to 37 percent (table 1). The rates apply to taxable income—adjusted gross income minus either the standard deduction or allowable itemized deductions. Income up to the standard deduction (or itemized deductions) is thus taxed at a zero rate. Federal income tax rates are progressive: As taxable income increases, it is taxed at higher rates. Different tax rates are levied on income in different ranges (or brackets) depending on the taxpayer’s filing status.
