JULI INKSTER Tuesday, January 27, 2015
PRE-TOURNAMENT INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT: JULI INKSTER Tuesday, January 27, 2015 KRAIG KANN: Good afternoon, everybody. Thanks for being here in the media center at the Coates Golf Championship. Great pleasure to have with me the United States captain for the Solheim Cup here in 2015, Juli Inkster is on board. I call you captain now. Are you okay with that? I've never asked you if you were okay with it. JULI INKSTER: Oh, yeah, it's better than what you usually call me, so I think it's a step up. KRAIG KANN: The good news is I'm going to be calling you quite a bit now and hopefully you're receptive to that. The Solheim Cup 2015 taking place September 14th through the 20th, not that they'll compete on each and every one of those days. Three days is plenty good. Let's talk about where you are with everything. We can go through the points and how that all works, but I want to know how you're feeling as this new year kicks off and any kind of pressure or excitement that you might be having. JULI INKSTER: Yeah, it's exciting. Last year it was just kind of, you know, the announcement and trying to get things in order, really what are my responsibilities, what do they expect of me. I did have a really good team meeting, dinner at the CME and just kind of laid out what I expect and how we're going to go about this. The girls were really receptive. -

Women’s Golf Tournament Program - 116 pages PING CELEBRATES 50 YEARS IN G OLF RICH HARVEST FARMS Fifty years ago, the first PING® putter was shipped from the Redwood City, California, garage of Karsten and Louise Solheim. The PING® 1A™ putter inaugurated a revolution in golf club design and manufacturing that would see Karsten’s company grow into a brand world-renowned for innovation and unequalled quality. Karsten, with his family at his side, went on to pioneer custom fitting and bring new processes to the manufacturing of golf clubs, including investment casting and heat treating. He recognized the value of scientific research and employed high speed cameras and a robotic golfer (The PING® Man) to analyze the dynamics of the golf club. His insistence on adhering to strict engineering principles and tight manufacturing tolerances raised the level of product performance and quality throughout the golf industry. It all led to more enjoyment for golfers all over the world. An engineer with an extensive background in the defense, aerospace and computer industries, he remains the only engineer to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. Among the game-changing products that will be forever associated with Karsten are the Anser® putter and EYE2® irons. BUNKER HILL His wife of 63 years, Louise, who turned 91 in June, vividly remembers RICH HARVEST FARMS the moment Karsten informed her of his new putter’s name. “He came Be careful running into the kitchen,” she recalled, “and said, ‘I’ve got a name for my putter.’ I said ‘That’s nice, honey,’ and we ate our hamburgers and Proud sponsorof the of LPGA flat green vegetables without any particular celebration. -

Solheim Cup 2015 U.S. Member Alison Lee Missed a Birdie Putt But
Solheim Cup 2015 U.S. member Alison Lee missed a birdie putt but then picked up her ball when Europe's Suzann Pettersen and Brittany Lincicome started walking off the green. Pettersen said it was never conceded, and an umpire awarded the hole to Europe. Pettersen and Charley Hull won the fourball match 2 up. "I missed it but I had just under two feet, like a foot and a half left coming back. And I looked at it and I thought I heard it was good,'' Lee said. ''To me it looked good. I mean, it was a really short putt, easy putt. And at the same time Charley was walking off the green and Suzann was already off the green so there was no doubt in my mind that that putt was good. I didn't even think twice about it. So I just picked it up.'' Referee Dan Maselli said there was nothing he could do to allow Lee to ''put that ball back down and putt.'' ''It would have to be something that was uttered by the team, a caddy, one of the helpers, one of the assistant captains, or the captain, other than that. But nothing was said by anybody,'' Maselli told NBC's Golf Channel. Said Europe captain Carin Koch: ''We all feel bad for Alison. She made a mistake and it's very unfortunate. We don't want things like that to happen. She made a mistake in the rules of golf. We had a rules meeting and we clearly stated that you have to concede a putt very clearly and she didn't go with the rule. -
