Edens ABSTRACT The results of a two-year study in Michigan on the incidence of Coenosia tigrina adults under different onion production practices is presented. In Michigan, C. tigrina has three generations and is more abundant in organic agroecosystems than chemically-intensive onion production systems. Adults of the tiger fly, Coenosia tigrina (F.), are primarily predators of Diptera. -

Specimens were collected once a week from Mugla province, western Turkey, in 2000 and 2001 from cultured and non-cultured plants. During this study Ophiomyia pulicaria (Meigen, 1830); Aulagromyza buhri (de Meijere, 1938); Chromatomyia scolopendri (Robineau-Desvoidy, 1851); Liriomyza flaveola (Fallen 1823); Liriomyza sativae Blanchard, 1938; Phytomyza angelicae Kaltenbach, 1872; Phytomyza conyzae Hering, 1920; Phytomyza rufipes Meigen, 1830; Phytomyza thysselinivora Hering, 1924 are newly recorded for the Turkish leafminer fauna. Keywords Checklist, Finland, Diptera, biodiversity, faunistics Introduction The Agromyzidae are called the leaf-miner or leaf-mining flies and not without reason, although a substantial fraction of the species feed as larvae on other parts of living plants. While Agromyzidae is traditionally placed in the superfamily Opomyzoidea, its exact relationships with other acalyptrate Diptera are poorly understood (see for example Winkler et al. 2010). Two subfamilies are recognised within the leaf-mining flies: Agromyzinae and Phytomyzinae. Both are now recognised as natural groups (Dempewolf 2005, Scheffer et al. 2007). Unfortunately the genera are not as well defined: at least Ophiomyia, Phy- toliriomyza and Aulagromyza are paraphyletic in DNA sequence analyses (see Scheffer et al. -

New data on the distribution of 104 species are given as follows: Afghanistan (3 species), Algeria (10), Austria (5), Bulgaria (2), Croatia (22), Czech Republic (8 species: Bohemia 5, Moravia 4), Egypt (3), France (2), Germany (1), Iran (1), Italy (3), Kazakhstan (25), Liechtenstein (10), Montenegro (2), Romania (1), Serbia (2), Slovakia (11), Slovenia (3), Spain (5), Turkey (13), Uzbekistan (1). Forensically Important Muscidae (Diptera) Associated with Decomposition of Carcasses and Corpses in the Czech Republic

Experiments in turns followed decomposition in outdoor environments with the beginning in spring, summer and winter. As the test objects a cadaver of domestic pig (Sus scrofa f. domestica Linnaeus, 1758) weighing 50 kg to 65 kg was used for each test. Our paper presents results of family Muscidae, which was collected during all three studies, with focusing on its using in forensic practice. Altogether 29,237 specimens of the muscids were collected, which belonged to 51 species. It was 16.6% (n = 307) of the total number of Muscidae family which are recorded in the Czech Republic. In all experiments the species Hydrotaea ignava (Harris, 1780) was dominant (spring = 75%, summer = 81%, winter = 41%), which is a typical representative of necrophagous fauna on animal cadavers and human corpses in outdoor habitats during second and/or third successional stages (active decay phase) in the Czech Republic. There are new recordings of this pre- datory fly worldwide and several teams of researchers are working on its life cycle, behavior and enhancement. For the first time, the appearance of Coenosia flies in greenhouses in the region of Antalya (Turkey) was investi- gated. Greenhouses in Turkey where an integrated mode of husbandry is practised can be colonised by high number predatory flies of the species C. attenuata. The evaluation of sticky traps has shown that from the preda- tory genus Coenosia, exclusively C. attenuate, populated the investigated greenhouses in high numbers. The flies were found in tomato and herbs. In the greenhouse with herb production in pots, C. attenuata seems to have been established for a long period of time (our unpublished data from 2009 prove the presence of C. attenuata between March and May) and occurs in rather high numbers. With this study the number of leafminer species is updated to 186 species that was previously 165 species. Of these species, 57 belong to Agromyzinae and 129 species are Phytomyzinae. From this family, about 1171 species have been identified in the Palearctic region (Scheirs et al., 1999; Pakalniskis, 2000; Černý, 2005b; Çıkman & Sasakawa, 2008; 2011). -

The monophyly of the superfamily has been strongly questioned (Nirmala et al. 2001, Kutty et al. 2010) on the basis of DNA sequence analyses. Three of the four families of Muscoidea are treated in this paper, the fourth (An- thomyiidae) is covered in a separate paper in this issue of ZooKeys. -
