  • 2021 CIF/SCGA Socal Boy's Regional Golf Championship
2021 CIF/SCGA SoCal Boy’s Regional Golf Championship Tuesday, June 15, 2021 Brookside Golf Club (Course #1) Pasadena, CA To: All Administrators, Coaches and Athletes From: Ron Nocetti, CIF Executive Director Re: Expectations For Schools, Coaches And Student-Athletes In Pursuing Victory With Honorsm The CIF was formed during the 1914-15 school year with 65,000 high school students in California and less than 8,000 students participating on their high school teams. Today, there are over 1.8 million high school students with more than 830,000 participating for their school teams. Education-based athletics will continue to thrive because of the life lessons it imparts on our young people. Several years ago, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) launched the #MyReasonWhy campaign. The intent behind it was to demonstrate why we (student-athletes, coaches, administrators, parents and fans) are all involved in high school sports. Recently, the CIF resurrected this campaign to once again demonstrate the real reasons why education-based athletics is so impactful on our lives. Our 10 Section Offices communicated with our member schools asking them to have their student-athletes, coaches and administrators post on various social media platforms #MyReasonWhy. We encourage you to watch/read some of these and to post your own. Whether you are a student-athlete, or coach, parent or administrator, official or fan, we all have our reason why. It is no secret that our student-athletes are inherently drawn to sport because it is fun and because of the connection it develops between them and their peers, coaches and school community.

  • Adam Scott Former UNLV Golfer and Current PGA Tour Star
“Coach, you are on a roll for developing such great players AND quality kids." --- Jim Nantz Broadcaster, CBS Sports "The golf program at UNLV played a big part in my golf educa- tion, helping me to prepare for life on Tour. Great facilities to use, great competition to play in and great friends made. I look back at my time at UNLV and have great memories. UNLV is a part of the journey that I am on and taught me so much. I am a proud Rebel!" --- Adam Scott Former UNLV golfer and current PGA Tour star "Coach Knight is an incredible short game instructor and he has a vast knowledge of the game of golf. One of the things he constantly emphasized was the importance of the finishing holes in every tournament. I can't even begin to count how many times his words rang true, with the finishing holes making the differ- ence between winning and losing." --- Ryan Moore Former UNLV star, current PGA Tour golfer and Ryder Cup Champion "If a young golfer has the dream of playing on the PGA Tour, there is no better place to play college golf than UNLV. Dwaine Knight will help you learn what it takes to be successful at the next level." --- Hank Haney Leading golf instructor "I couldn't be where I am today without the program at UNLV and Coach Knight. Coach worked with me from the start and helped me with my short game and I saw immediate improvements. I still almost exclusively work with Coach on my short game.

Final Round Interview 18 November 2018 ABRAHAM ANCER KATHIE SHEARER: Ladies and gentlemen, the 2018 winner of the Australian Open, Abraham Ancer. ABRAHAM ANCER: Thank you, thank you. KATHIE SHEARER: Well, fantastic day, what a fantastic winner. How do you feel at this moment? ABRAHAM ANCER: I'm on cloud nine right now. It's been just a phenomenal week. It's felt like a short week because I got here on Wednesday, Wednesday morning, when I normally get to tournaments on Mondays. It's been absolutely phenomenal. My first time in Australia. Everybody told me how great it was and I mean, I'm truly, truly -- I love this country already, only being four days that I've been here, or five days. Everybody has been tremendously supportive, really nice to me this week, and I felt right at home. KATHIE SHEARER: I saw when you held the Cup you sort of stroked it and started looking at the names on it. Before you came here, did you realize the history of the Cup and the winners? ABRAHAM ANCER: Yeah, obviously I did a little bit of research and the names on this cup are absolutely incredible. Jack Nicklaus, obviously recently Spieth, McIlroy, Baddeley, a lot of names that are extremely obviously recognized in the world of golf and I'm really, really happy that my name's going to be there now. KATHIE SHEARER: And for a couple of these recent players, this tournament seemed to launch the following year for them. McIlroy and Spieth had wonderful years after they won this.
