It comes to market for only the second time in nearly 70 years. • The house dates from around 1783. The earliest recorded owner is Francis Rufford, MP for Worcester, and the family were rich with banking and industrial interests in Stourbridge. He sold the house in 1838 to Jonathan Lord Hobbs who set up a medical practice in the house, and is often mentioned amongst the Poor Law records for the village. His family sold the house and outbuildings, which included a Malthouse and Stables in 1863 and the house was subsequently divided around 1880. Part became a well-known Draper’s shop and part became a Church of home for young girls. The Draper’s shop continued through to the 1940’s. In the late 1940’s the Holroyd family reunited the two halves of the house. The house was also featured in a BBC episode of the crime drama series Dalziel & Pascoe called ‘Secrets of the Dead’ in 2000. • It offers flexible accommodation with a host or original features including traditional fireplaces, high ceilings, sash windows, panelled doors and original solid wood flooring and flagstone flooring to the entrance hall and kitchen.
