They’re there an hour ahead, waiting for ASTATE (M3-5) the lineups and armed with cardboard “K” signs to celebrate strikeouts by UL pitchers. • 50-50: UL’s Diamond Darlings start roaming the stands in the second inning, offering USA (M10-12) chances to “split the pot.” One ticket is $1 and seven go for $5. Half the funds go to the base- ball program and half to the lucky ticket holder for the eighth-inning drawing. 1 MILLION STRONG • Yahtzee: If you haven’t played, you don’t know. Tony Robichaux By the Numbers Tony Robichaux Sun Belt Coach of the Year Head Coach 644-442-1 (19th season at UL) (1997,3: 2005, 2007) 907-619-1 (27th season overall) Tony Robichaux, one of the youngest head coaches in Division I history to reach 500 career victories, ABCA South Central Coach of has been at the helm of the Ragin’ Cajuns baseball program since 1995. In the 2009 season finale at New Orleans, he earned his 800th career victory, joining – at the time the3: Year (1999, 2000, 2010) – an elite list of just 28 active Division I coaches with 800 or more lifetime wins. In 2010, Robichaux guided Louisiana to one of the most remarkable second half runs in recent memory, finishing the 2010 regular season with a 23-4 mark which included a 17-1 record in Sun Belt play that vaulted the Cajuns Pitching staff has led Sun to a conference championship. In 2011, Robichaux posted his 600th win in a Cajuns uniform when Louisiana topped South Alabama 10:Belt in ERA in 10 of the last 13 5-4 on Easter Sunday. He enters the 2013 season with 894 career victories placing him on the verge of 900 career victories. seasons (2000-12) In 18 previous seasons under Robichaux, UL has finished third or higher in the SBC standings 12 times and reached 30 wins 13 times. The Ragin’ Cajuns’ pitching staff produced the lowest ERA in the Sun Belt six consecutive seasons from 2005-2010 and has claimed the league’s top ERA in 10 of the 13 seasons since 2000. Cajuns skipper (18 total) Robichaux, the all-time victories leader at Louisiana, has guided the Ragin’ Cajuns to eight NCAA Regional appearances, two NCAA Super Regional appearances and the 2000 College World Series. His teams have also clinched four SBC regular season crowns (1997, 2005, 2007, 2010) and one SBC Season at UL Tournament title (1998). In 2000, Robichaux guided one of the best Cajuns baseball teams in school history to arguably the 19th: school’s most memorable season.
