This season will mark the 31st season of Division I baseball at the University of Evansville. Over the last 30 years, Evansville has ranked as one of the pre- mier baseball programs in the Midwest, posting 19 winning seasons and winning Andy regular-season and tournament titles in the Heartland Collegiate Conference, the Midwestern Collegiate Conference (currently the Horizon League), and the Benes Missouri Valley Conference. The Purple Aces have developed 46 professional players over the last 30 years, including 24 pro prospects since 2000. Included among Evansville’s pro prospects are four men who have played at the Major League level: Andy Benes, Rob Maurer, Sal Fasano, and Jamey Carroll. Benes is arguably UE’s most well-known baseball alumus, as he was the first overall pick in the 1988 draft, after earning NCAA Player of the Year honors. Benes went on to post a 155-139 career record and 3.97 career ERA in 14 Major League seasons with the , , Arizona Jamey Diamondbacks, and St. Louis Cardinals. Carroll Maurer played parts of two seasons (1991 and 1992) with the as a utility .
