Border trade is defined as a special form of international trade mutually implemented by the countries that border the other countries in order to cover the needs of that region. Providing the opportunity to supply goods cheaply and easily and contributing to the environment of peace, tranquility and trust, providing employment and its positive effect on annihilating the regional instability are some significant contributions of this form of trade to macro economy. Our trading volume which merchandized through Habur border gate has gathered speed in recent years and this case has increased the importance of Habur border gate. As datum about border trade aren’t recorded adequately, this article using historical and comparative approach is important. Because it put forwards the effect and efficiency of Habur border gate.

Coğrafi Özellikleri Bakımından Esendere Gümrük Kapısı ve Sınır Ticareti Saliha KODAY (*) Zeki KODAY (**) Yusuf KIZILKAN (***) Öz: Türkiye’nin Doğu Anadolu bölgesinin doğusunda yer almakta olan Esendere Gümrük Kapısı jeopolitik ve jeostratejik öneminin yanı sıra ticari açıdan önemli bir konumdadır. Esendere gümrük kapısının sahip olduğu ticari fonksiyonları doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak, gümrük kapısı etki alanındaki yerleşmelerde değişikliklere neden olmuştur. Geçmişte alanda meydana gelen sınır sorunları arasında yer alan terör sorunlarından dolayı gümrük kapısında ticari aktiviteler durma noktasına gelmiştir. Ancak bu sorunların bertaraf edilmesi günümüzde gümrük kapısının ticari faaliyetlerine olumlu etkilerde bulunarak alanda sosyal, siyasi ve ekonomik yapının tekrardan canlanmasında ve gelişmesinde önemli rol oynamıştır. Uluslararası nitelikte İran ve Türkiye’ye ekonomik açıdan önemli katkıları bulunan gümrük kapısında niteliksel iyileştirmelerle ekonomik kazanç ve verilen hizmet nitelikleri arttırılmaya çalışılmıştır. Gümrük kapısının özellikle turizm kaynağı olarak ilgi çeken alanlara yakınlığı ve iki ülke arasındaki ilişkilerin gelişmesine katkıda bulunan özellikte olması, çalışma sahasını daha önemli kılmaktadır. Çalışmada İran ve Türkiye için öneme sahip olan Esendere Gümrük kapısının coğrafi konumu, Doğu Anadolu bölgesi için önemi ve buna bağlı olarak ekonomik, sosyal, siyasal yönden önemi değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Folosind datele statistice adunate şi sistematizate de administraţia judeţeană Hotin pentru anii 1830, 1832, 1835 şi 1836, prezentate administraţiei regionale şi instituţiilor imperiale, autorul analizează mărimea, distribuţia şi componența populaţiei, descrie schimbările acre s-au produs în viaţa economică a judeţului Hotin în această perioadă de timp. HOTIN COUNTY IN THE RUSSIAN STATISTICAL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE 1830s Based on the original archival sources found in the National Archive of the Republic of Moldova, the author analy- zes the changes that occurred in the demographic and social-economic situation of the Hotin county in the 1830s. Using the statistical data gathered and systematized by the administration of Hotin county, for the years 1830, 1832, 1835 and 1836, presented to the regional administration and the imperial institutions, the author analyzes the size, distribution and composition of the population, describes the changes that occurred in the economic life of Hotin County, during this period of time.
