It has presented a lot of challenges, a lot of disappointments and a lot of inconveniences. But 2020 has also provid- ed a lot of positives. A total of 111 racing days were held at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit visited 11 locations for action, the state’s richest Indiana sired yearling went through the sales ring at the price of $240,000, and the Breeders Crown Championships were held, posting the largest handle in the 26-year history of Indiana Stan- dardbred racing. The Powell family can be traced back to 1769 after two brothers, Jacob and Thomas, relocated to Miami County in Indi- ana from Wales in 1769. The next generation of the Powell family showed early signs of horses and racing.
