53 Times 53A Liverpool - Crosby Or Aintree Station Bus 53 times 53A Liverpool - Crosby or Aintree station Changes from 24 July 2011 Arriva and Stagecoach services are combined into a co-ordinated timetable and will be part of a Quality Partnership agreement with Merseytravel, Liverpool City Council and Sefton Borough Council. (Please see page 3 for full details about how your bus services have changed.) A partnership between: This timetable has been produced by Merseytravel on behalf of the Quality Partnership partners. This timetable has been produced by Merseytravel on behalf of the Quality Partnership partners 010711 POP Routes 53 and 53A Welcome to your new co-ordinated Quality Partnership bus service Routes 53 and 53A running between Liverpool and Crosby or Aintree station, will be part of a Quality Partnership between Merseytravel, Arriva, Stagecoach and Liverpool and Sefton councils. We’re all working together to provide you with a better bus service. Better timetable - more buses! There’s now a combined, co-ordinated timetable between Liverpool, Crosby Netherton and Aintree. The combined timetable means that during Monday to Saturday daytimes, buses run up to every 5 minutes between Liverpool and Crosby and up to every 20 minutes between Liverpool, Netherton and Aintree. During Monday to Saturday evening and on Sundays, buses run up to every 15 minutes all the way from Liverpool to Crosby, Netherton and Aintree station. Tickets and passes As part of this Quality Partnership agreement, day and weekly tickets issued by either Arriva or Stagecoach can be used on both companies’ services between Liverpool city centre and Islington in Crosby on the 53 and 53A. With the co-ordinated timetable, it doesn’t matter which ticket you’ve got - you’ve now got up to 12 buses every hour during the day and up to 4 buses every hour during the evenings and on Sundays between Liverpool and Crosby. That’s why we’ve shown all the buses together in this combined book - it doesn’t matter who runs your bus any more! The full range of Merseytravel Solo, Trio, Saveaway and Free Travel Passes are valid on all buses, as usual. (See page 3 for full details.) The buses All buses used on Routes 53 and 53A have low floors, allowing easy access for everyone. Buses are fitted with state of the art, low emission engines for a cleaner, greener environment. Improvements to bus stops and highways Merseytravel will continue with its ongoing programme of improvements to bus stops and shelters and, in partnership with Liverpool and Sefton councils, will make improvements to the highways. 2 Tickets and passes explained As part of this Quality Partnership agreement, both Arriva and Stagecoach now accept each others tickets on Routes 53 and 53A. If you buy an Arriva Day or Weekly ticket, you can now use all Arriva and Stagecoach buses on Routes 53 and 53A. If you buy a Stagecoach Dayrider or Megarider, you can now use all Stagecoach and Arriva buses on Routes 53 and 53A. The full range of Merseytravel tickets and passes - Solo, Trio, Saveaway and Free Travel Passes - continue to be valid on all buses throughout Merseyside, subject to usual validity and restrictions. This special ticketing agreement applies to buses on Routes 53 and 53A only between Liverpool city centre and Islington in Crosby, and forms part of the Quality Partnership between Merseytravel, Arriva, Stagecoach, Liverpool and Sefton councils and does not apply to any other routes running between Crosby, Bootle and Liverpool. If you travel on any other services, you must have a ticket issued by the company that runs your service. The agreement only applies to Day or Weekly tickets. If you hold any other ticket (such as a 4-Weekly, Annual or Student Term ticket) you can only use services provided by the bus company who supplied your ticket. Changes to your services With the launch of the combined timetable, your services are now shown in one co-ordinated timetable, with buses running to new times and routes: Route 53: buses run by Arriva and Stagecoach all now operate between Queen Square Bus Station and Crosby Islington only, so no longer serve Thornton. Buses no longer serve Sir Thomas Street in Liverpool city centre, now running to and from Queen Square Bus Station. The times are changed - with buses now running, along with Route 53A, up to every 5 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes between Queen Square Bus Station and Crosby and every 15 minutes during the evenings and Sunday daytimes. The section of Arriva route between Crosby and Thornton is now covered by the improved Route 53A. Route 53A: all buses now run between Queen Square Bus Station and Aintree station, and no longer serve Sir Thomas Street in the city centre. Buses no longer serve Liverpool ONE Bus Station during the evening or Sundays. Buses run every 20 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday evenings and on Sundays. Route 53B: this service is withdrawn. Route 153: extra new Route 53A buses are introduced on Sunday mornings, so Route 153 is withdrawn.
