However, emerging technologies are changing the economics and logistics of the healthcare industry. Connected gadgets and intelligent software are making healthcare more information intensive than location intensive. Moreover, innovations such as injectable sensors, printed body parts, surgical nanobots and artificial intelligence are making healthcare extremely skill and technology sensitive. To remain leaders in healthcare tourism, Indian and Emirati healthcare providers need to offer the latest solutions while keeping healthcare affordable. • What kind of technology strategies do Indian and Emirati healthcare providers need to adopt? • How can the healthcare providers balance investment in new technologies and price sensitivity of the market? • Which new technologies hold the greatest promise of making healthcare accessible to all? Chairman Rajive Kaul Chairman, Nicco Corporation Speakers Naresh Trehan Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta - The Medicity Azad Moopen Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare Arvind Lal Chairman & Managing Director, Dr Lal PathLabs Pvt Ltd Vandana Luthra Founder & Chairperson VLCC Health Care Ltd. New technologies are making retail more clever and immersive. Big data and artificial intelligence can predict demand and decide stocks and pricing. Location technologies allow retailers to contact customers based on their proximity to particular stores. Augmented reality allows virtual trials and cameras can recognise customers and stores can offer them customised service before they ask. Store integration with social media can get people to instantly buy things that they discuss. Modern retailers need to mix the magic, convenience and savings of technology to keep customers coming and stay competitive. • How can retailers of different sizes use digital technologies to create a more compelling buying experience? • How can the big format retailers compete with digital retail platforms? • How can the customer recognition and tracking technologies be made more acceptable to the customers? It would be too damaging for everyone to reverse the global flow of products, money, people and knowledge. Digitization is making it easier to transact and transfer globally and economies are getting restructured for greater external engagement. India and the UAE need to use the new technologies as trade multipliers and encourage greater bilateral flow of knowledge and people. India-UAE Bilateral Relations India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) established diplomatic relations in 1972. UAE opened its Embassy in Delhi in 1972 & India opened its Embassy in Abu Dhabi in 1973. The traditionally strong bilateral relations enjoyed by India & UAE received impetus with the visit of PM Modi to UAE on 16-17 August 2015 that marked the beginning of a new strategic partnership between the two countries. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, (MBZ) Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, visited India in from February 2016. MBZ visited India again in January, 2017 as the Chief Guest at India’s Republic day celebrations. It was during this visit that the bilateral relations were upgraded to a ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’. PM Modi visited UAE again in February 2018 for the 6th World Government Summit in Dubai, where India was the Guest of Honor; he also met Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE & Ruler of Dubai. PM visited UAE again in August 2019 to receive the UAE's highest civilian award, 'the Order of Zayed’ that was conferred on him by the UAE President in April 2019. The visit also witnessed the official launch of the ‘RuPay Card’ in UAE, and the release of a set of stamps issued by Emirates Post commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi jointly by PM Modi and MBZ. The momentum generated by these regular visits at the highest level was sustained at the level of Foreign Ministers too.
