Daniel | 144 pages | 08 Mar 2016 | DC Comics | 9781401261207 | English | United States Deathstroke () Vol. 2: The Gospel of Slade - Comics by comiXology Pros: There are plenty of great, action packed moments from Deathstroke here. His fight against Lobo is entertaining. Cons: The plot feels generic the entire time. The narrative is inconsistent and changes suddenly and randomly. The finale is poor and fails to deliver the emotions it attempts to elicit. The artwork ranges from Deathstroke: Vol 2 to below average. Overall: Though it starts out alright, this volume ultimately devolves into a mess that gets Deathstroke: Vol 2 entertaining with every page. Deathstroke still has plenty of time to shine and there are moments where his epic stunts are great. However, the plot Deathstroke: Vol 2 lackluster to start out with and only gets worse as the volume progresses. This is a volume for those who Deathstroke: Vol 2 to see every fight Deathstroke participates in, not those looking to see him take part in a meaningful story. Deathstroke Vol. However, as the volume progresses, this otherwise passable narrative is muddled by random changes to characters and sudden shifts in plot. It would have been great to see the series continue Deathstroke: Vol 2 the average quality level from the first volume; unfortunately, Lobo Hunt is filled with too many strange happenings Deathstroke: Vol 2 be anything more than second-rate. Lobo Hunt starts out with a story that is consistently average in terms of quality. It sees Deathstroke take on numerous enemies in a fight to subdue Lobo, who is the most threatening enemy Deathstroke has faced thus far.

  • Racial Mind-Games and Reapportionment: When Can Race Be Considered (Legitimately) in Redistricing?
ESSAY RACIAL MIND-GAMES AND REAPPORTIONMENT: WHEN CAN RACE BE CONSIDERED (LEGITIMATELY) IN REDISTRICTING? Ken Gonnley* The past decade of Supreme Court cases dealing with race and reapportionment, from Shaw v. Reno in 1993 to Easley v. Cromartie in 2001, have created ambiguity and tension. The Court has con- structed a seemingly simple test: race cannot constitute the "pre- dominant factor" in drawing legislative districts. Yet the Court has done little to inform lawyers and lower courts in what contexts race legitimately may be considered in the reapportionment process. In this Essay, Professor Ken Gormley tackles that jurisprudential conun- drum from a unique perspective. Professor Gormley is the author of Archibald Cox: Conscience of a Nation (Perseus Books 1997), a biogra- phy of the Harvard professor turned Solicitor General, who argued the pivotal cases of Baker v. Carrand Reynolds v. Sims in the Supreme Court and helped draft the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Professor Gormley himself served as Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Legislative Reapportionment Commission in the early 1990's, con- fronting race issues first-hand. Professor Gormley concludes that the "predominant factor" test is on the right path, however, to establish a clear guide for lawyers, litigants, and lower courts, the Court must Professor of Law, Duquesne University. This Essay was completed in three months, from start to finish. The author only survived that timetable thanks to the help of numerous friends and experts. Professor Pamela Karlan (Stanford) undertook a thorough review of the manu- script and provided many useful comments, despite other reapportionment-related commit- ments.
