FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RENAISSANCE DRAWINGS FROM THE AMBROSIANA AT NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART WASHINGTON, D.C. JULY 27, 1984. The Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, one of Europe's most prestigious research libraries, houses an impressive collection of manuscripts, printed books, and drawings. From the approximately 12,000 drawings in the Ambrosiana collection, eighty-seven sheets from the late fourteenth to early seventeenth centuries will go on view in the National Gallery of Art's West Building beginning August 12, 1984 and running through October 7, 1984. The Ambrosiana collection contains some of the finest works of North Italian draftsmanship. Until recently, these drawings (with the exception of those of the Venetian School) have received little attention from scholars outside Italy. This exhibition brings to the United States for the first time works from the Biblioteca Ambrosiana by prominent artists of the North Italian Schools as well as by major artists of the Renaissance in Italy and Northern Europe. The show includes works by Pisanello, Leonardo, Giulio Romano, Vasari, Durer, Barocci, Bans Holbein the Elder and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Some of the earliest drawings in the exhibition are by the masters of the International Gothic Style. Several drawings by the prolific (MORE) RENAISSANCE DRAWINGS FRCM THE AMBROSIANA -2. draftsman, Pisanello, appear in the shew. Figures in elegant and fashionable costumes are depicted in his Eleven Men in Contemporary Dress. -

This work, dating from 1603, was based on an engraving of 1553 by Lorenzo Zacchia, which was taken from a cartoon by Leonardo da Vinci. The original fresco itself is lost. Since the individual details of the drawing matched the anatomical elements of the human brain we decided to perform an anatomical interpretation. With the help of the program Paint X we were able to move 23 elements of the drawing. The comparison revealed the similarity between the details of the obtained image and the anatomical elements of the brain. Our research shows that the Peter Paul Rubens’s copy of ,,The Battle of Anghiari’’ by Leonardo da Vinci is a harmonious mix of Art and Anatomy. We have established that the copy of the lost fresco, which was created six centuries ago, includes double content. By moving 23 details of the drawing in which the battle is depicted, an image is obtained. This image accurately describe the anatomical elements of the brain in the lateral view. The aim of this study was to analyze and evaluate the differences and similarities in the spatial structure of Cittaslow towns in the Italian regions of Tuscany and Umbria and the Polish region of Warmia and Mazury. The study examined historical towns which are situated in different parts of Europe and have evolved in different cultural and natural environments. The presented research attempts to determine whether the spatial structure of historical towns established in different European regions promotes the dissemination of the Cittaslow philosophy and the adoption of sustainable development principles. NEWS RELEASE FOURTH STREET AT CONSTITUTION AVENUE NW WASHINGTON DC 20565 737-4215/842-6353 ADVANCE FACT SHEET Exhibition: Leonardo's Horses; Studies of Horses and Other Animals by Leonardo da Vinci from the Royal Library at Windsor Castle Itinerary; National Gallery of Art February 24 - June 9, 1985 Museum of Fine Arts, Houston June 22 - October 13, 1985 The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco November 9, 1985 - February 23, 1986 Background; This exhibition was announced on March 2, 1983 in conjunction with the visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the West Coast. Content; For the first time, a selection of fifty studies of horses and other animals relating to several of the artist's major projects are being lent by Her Majesty from the Royal Library at Windsor Castle for an American tour premiering at the National Gallery, Washington. These are among the most renowned animal studies in the world. Range; The drawings date from 1478 to around 1517, covering Leonardo's early days in Florence to later years in Milan and the last years in France. Subject; Most of the drawings selected for this exhibition focus on Leonardo's treatment and studies of horses. Several sheets also include sketches of donkeys, oxes, cats, dragons and other fanciful creatures. The horse studies are widely recognized as another instance of Leonardo's genius in his vast corpus of drawings of natural life, science and art. They reveal the very special relationship between man and horse, as well as intense study of the animal. Projects and Related Drawings; The drawings fall into seven chronological groups, several of which involved tremendously important projects that Leonardo worked on but which have not survived or were never completed, giving their preparatory studies an added significance. -

Introduction In a previous study [1], which included stylistic and diagnostic analyses, it was found that the oil painting on canvas “Mona Lisa with columns”, part of a private collection in a museum in St. Petersburg (Figure 1), is a copy of the “Mona Lisa” by Leonardo (Figure 2) dating to a period between 1590 and 1660. Noteworthy features include the good quality, readability and expressiveness emanating from the work, which presum- ably is of Nordic influence, specifically German-Flemish. Figure 1. This sequence of investigations – which were certainly not aimed at authentication – were examined together with those of the Na- tional Gallery in London, thus enabling comparisons to be made with other works by Leonardo [2-3]. -

On the evening of August 10, 2017, the author read a veiled message left by Vasari: The vertical line that passes through the center of the Battle of Marciano also passes through the center of the Fight for the Standard. On the evening of August 15, the author read a second secret message left by Vasari: The bottom of Leonardo’s Battle of Anghiari aligns with the floor of the Hall of the Five Hundred. -

Resumen Hacemos una lectura del cuadro Baco o San Juan Bautista, desde la aplicación a sus imágenes del myto clásico de Dioniso-Baco. Dividimos su contenido en tres partes: 1.
